It is difficult to explain that kind of show to a modern audience, isn't it? It was so "now" back then.

It was a great programme. So many things amazed me about it thou researching it.

The stars are really down to earth. Kylie wears trainers!!!!!
Dressing up in 1996 isn't the same as today!!!!!!

But it was the best tv programme of its day! So good! And a very funny time slot. Get home, have tea, watch TFI, go on your Friday night out, get home, rewatch TFI with a kebab

TFI does represent a golden british era where pop music and comedy came together and we produced some really great stuff - stuff like Oasis, Blur, Shooting Stars, Newman and Baddiel, Britpop, Loaded Magazine, the Word, the Spice Girls, Take That etc.

A list which makes me cringe whenever I look at any single entry on it, but as a whole makes me feel really proud to be British.

Apart from two predictable entries on there, I loved all of those unashamedly. Well, three in that I was a bit too young to enjoy The Word, but I have since loved the clips of MCHammer and Mark Lamarr, Oliver Reed and Terry Christian and so on.

History Today remains one of the all time great sketches.

You mean Shabba Ranks?

I was on 'down your doorstep' on the Big Breakfast with Mark Lamarr the Monday after that show.

Cant' believe I never saw that before.

I was referring to when Shabba Ranks said all gays should be crucified and Lamarr told him off

I got lost in a bit of a 'word hole' searching for that, I completely forgot this was Mark Wahlberg
