The proper tourney was worth less money than the freeroll....

You think ICM based its a bad fold then? Knowing i can easily make another 2 spots for sure unless getting coolered and by doubling up it will hardly have any impact on my chances vs the chip leader. I would prefer to be doing the shoving with AJ rather than shoving and letting him call me off with a better hand 80% of the time??

Thanks for opinions guys, I eventually folded to which he shows me an A, sighhh but i guess could still be locked! Went on to grind to HU as i thought i could , one reasoning behind my fold as was a really soft table. Came out 2nd after getting a 8:1 chip deficit back to 2:1 and eventually getting it in, with A4 v Q6 and it coming Q high sighhh

No antes and has generally been a very tight table, i eventually folded as there seemed to be better spots to pick up chips with less risk on the table ??

Playing local live comp in Reigate last night, is a freeroll for everyone tournament winner over the past couple of months. £700 + up top, and theres 6 of us left. Villiain is virtually unknown as he is playing another comp at the same time that is running in the same card room :S and keeps changing between tournaments so no real idea what hes like.

Villain: 50k
Hero: 65k

Blinds are 2k 4k

Villian opens utg + 1 to 13k and is anxiously looking over at the other tournament as its Final table on there too and his blinds are fast approaching. I wake up in the SB with  ....what are peoples opinions on where to take the hand from here??

Playing in the £150 at DTD. Early on in comp, so have around 9k with blinds at 50-100. We pick up  in the Hijack and make it 250 to go. Get called by btn, SB and BB. Flop comes  , Villain in SB leads for 300, BB calls, i call with btn folding. Turn brings the  , Sb once again leads for about 550, BB folds, i call thinking he could be leading with 10 J, A 9, 9 10, etc . River is an irrelevant off suit 2, he checks .....value bet here or check behind in case he has led with an 8???

He may think hes good, but by betting £50 into about £80, i dont think thats for value, my opening range is pretty tight and if i was to ever call his £50 ( which is never going to happen with out stack sizes) it could never be with a hand worse than 66..?
26  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: JJ utg in 1/2 live cash on: July 28, 2011, 02:35:30 PM
cos its £70 more to him to win like £320 whereas me betting the turn means it would prob be more like £50 to win £80? By checking the turn he now has about £90 invested in the pot so feels like he cant fold, exactly where i want him, whereas by betting the turn even though he is up and down, he may just give up on it?
27  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: JJ utg in 1/2 live cash on: July 28, 2011, 02:16:53 PM
If your pretty certain hes going to float with mostly any two cards, then surely checking is the best option. It allows him to bluff the turn whereas by betting, he is going to fold a large amount of hands that he may believe is good if we check, ie 77 through 10-10 as well as J-9 10-j etc etc? By betting again with quite a shallow stack, i think this looks uber stong?

In this hand, i checked the turn to which he bet out £50, i dwelled and then shoved for around £140 which he snapped me off. The river came the  two spades , and he turned over  for a rivered straight. By betting the turn, there is a strong possibiliy i get him to fold here, which is not what i want, and he has sort of turned his hand into a bluff by betting 50 on the turn into about £60..? Opinions???
28  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / JJ utg in 1/2 live cash on: July 28, 2011, 06:30:31 AM
JJ utg, sitting with around 80bb, villain to my direct left, is a work colleague/ fellow dealer! I raise to 12 utg with  , and get snap called by villain and one other complete fish! Flop (£40)      so basically the nut flop for my hand. I'm 1st to act and see checking as looking suspect so bet out £19 knowing villain is very likely to float me here, he calls and other guy folds. The turn is the  which isn't the best turn card but very unlikely he can have gone ahead in he hand. What lines do you guys see as he correct play FTP
Here as to leading out again, checking to trap, inducing etc? Thanks il let you know the outcome once I hear a response Smiley
29  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: J9 late pos on: July 27, 2011, 07:26:46 PM
My point is I know his range is so wide here, hence the reason I have 4 bet him putting him in a spot where the only way he can really shove is with a 10 which is unlikely or with 66? Do you not agree that the 4 bet is my only option once he has check raised me??
30  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: J9 late pos on: July 27, 2011, 05:01:20 PM
Its an extremely dry board though to check back...a C bet should get through like 80% of the time IMO, hes calling with Q7 Q8 pre etc, and hes going to just check fold a lot of the time. I just think that for him to raise me shows its virtually impossible for him to have the 10 as at this sort of standard, he would just check call to trap me! For this reason, i made it 16450 to go, leaving myself around 15k which he snap went all in, leading to my sighhh and muck
