"I often go with the thumbs up gesture," comments Barry Carter, "it shows that I'm taking myself too seriously in photos."

Good luck to all blonde people who play today !

Who are the others ?

A players list is currently being typed up by Dana. Unfortunately, it's another sell out today, so her fingers in overdrive. I have my whip ready in case she slows down, and RSI won't be deemed an acceptable excuse.

Also, because someone in the cardroom screwed up the structure yesterday, they will be playing the screwed-up version today too, jumping straight to the 600/1200 level and skipping the 500/1000 level. They will most likely replay the 600/1200 level tomorrow.

I felt obliged to take a photo of Tim Blake to convey the audacity of his latest statement.

"Are you trying to grow your hair like me?"

Pink shirt ... freshly ironed, he must have had Jaffa's butler on the case.

There are some horrible tables there. Field seems very strong, a lot stronger than yesterday!

No, nobody knows. No mistakes were reported vis-a-vis the final player list, so either he has mastered the art of being in two places at once like those tiny particles I didn't believe existed in physics class, or there were indeed two separate people called John Gale playing yesterday. Not impossible. Although we have two Ed Arees-es currently on the list for today, which seems less likely...

Yeah, Table 21 caught my eye.  Probably as it's the last one on the list...

There have been several casualties early doors.

One of those was the imposing figure of Richard Wheatley, described by one of my colleagues as "The Andy Fordham of poker."

He raised preflop and was called by the camel, Keith Hawkins.

The flop came 2-4-4 and every street was bet until Richard moved in on the river to be called by Keith. Keith flipped over the mighty 2-4 for a flopped full house and although Richard mucked, rumour has it he held K-K.

I guess that's what you call implied odds!

Here is Richard shortly after his demise, possibly pointing to another leak from the roof, although that is yet to be confirmed.

After the early excitement of Jason Ho's first hand exit (set over set I believe), the action has slowed down somewhat with the most thrilling moment being when Mr McX offered me some jam on toast.

On the other side of the room, meanwhile, I did notice a surprisingly shaven Alan Vinson being waited on by his sooted and booted (isn't he always?) son Ben Vinson. Good to see these kids respect their elders.

Otherwise, very slow going at the moment. I'm tempted to whip off the old long johns and streak through the cardroom, but the gaps between the tables are quite tight and I wouldn't want to dish out any black eyes. Oh, and our new sponsors William Hill didn't supply any velcro trousers.
