The glass was apparently bombproof , but a concern was if the freezing temperatures weakened the glass in any way |

 Not sure if it's one of The Partridge Family or The Famous Grouse.  top punning!! It's a red-legged partridge, sometimes called a French partridge. Released for shooting (round here they're released to provide grouse-like shooting when driven over deep valleys). Now breeds in the UK, more in the south. Pretty wee things aren't they? |

No, not especially.. it's a Panasonic Lumix FZ45, bought second-hand for £130'ish. The birds don't come cheaply though, we get through a 13kg sack of sunflower hearts each month. |
