Poker question for you Mr T.
From DTD'S cash game rules:
No weeding can take place.
Playing over is allowed, so long as it is in strict reserve list order A play-over box will be issued to make sure that no weeding takes place.
I know what playing over* is but what is weeding?
*very common at the Vic, have never seen it at DTD.
Weeding is taking money off the table (usually someone who is winning and fancies a freeroll with the profits) and secreting it into a pocket.
I would not refer to stealing chips/money from the stack a person is playing over as weeding.

Thanks Ralph. So ratholing or going south then.
I thought it must be something else as another of the rules seems to cover that:
A player may leave any game at any time. However, if they return to play the same game within 1 hour, they must sit down with the amount they left with, regardless of table limits

When I was a regular (every night) cash game player at DTD, a player, who was allowed to remain anonymous, accused me, in my absence, of weeding off. As a result one of the card-room flunkeys warned me about it and told me that he would be watching me.
I will leave you to guess what I said in reply, but the whole incident soured the cash came scene at DTD for me.

Do you still play Tom ?
I haven’t seen you in a while ? I’m quite random these days too I prefer a £50/£60 tourney at Genting Luton as Denise my other half enjoys playing slots there !

I only looked at the rules as there was a question last night about how many straddles were allowed in the 2/2 PLO game, as a new to the table dealer was trying to restrict it to two.
Spookily, it was also the first time I've ever seen someone gently accused of going south mid-game. It was a pretty swingy session and one guy got up to £1800 and shortly afterwards had £700ish. A DTD reg asked him but he'd lost them in a couple of pots.

Isn't it strange how so many of us have different terms or phrases for the same things? Of course, our own version is always the correct one.
"weeding" is the correct term of course, until today I never knew what ratholing was, thought it was like a "hit & run".
I must say, the real meaning of "going south" is not related to poker, & I'd rather you avoided such coarse references on what is clearly a high class & innuendo-free Diary.

The stock market value of Snap, owner of the Snapchat messaging app, fell $1.5bn after reality TV star Kylie Jenner said she no longer used it.

How much do you think would be knocked off if Warren Buffett said it?

2guys one young one old squared up to each other at Luton last night the term fat c* nt was bandied about it was pure comedy !
Too much testerone at the table
Funny the stuff that sets people off
My mate weeds off the table - it’s my money is his defence
At portomaso he took 175 out of his stack to pay a tourney buy iin
The dealer spotted him
When he returned the dealer wouldn’t deal him in n told him why - I confirmed to my mate that this was correct protocol
My mate tries to bribe him with a pony
The dealer accepts the pony
Says thanks
Then deals him out lol
My mates face was a picture
He just moved tables
