Title: Budget laptop advice Post by: mondatoo on December 10, 2016, 06:27:49 PM My Mam's wanting to buy her partner a laptop, budget is £200. I've had a look around via Google for the best deals, didn't find much at this price range and going to buy this one unless anyone has any thoughts on better ?

There isn't going to be much space for photos. Seems ok for the money though. I suppose this coupled with a Google Drive or Dropbox account would be ok though.

In all honesty unless it's specifically for xmas wait for the December clearance sales at John Lewis or similar. Can find some much better machines around that price which will have more storage and generally run a lot smoother, which will be in nearly-new condition.

It was quite cheap ~£200 iirc, but it is a much better version than the one you linked, faster processor and 500Gb memory. The processor can sometimes seem a bit slow at 2.4Gh and yours is even slower than that. The only restriction is that you need to be in a wifi environment since it stores data in the cloud.
The chrome OS takes away all of the complexity of windows and it is what I recommend to most casual users.
