Well, after a slightly shorter Day One than we anticipated, we're ready to get our teeth into Day Two.  It starts at 3pm.  Chip counts will be available 'overnight' which means a little before 3pm, most likely.

Hello from the Irish Open.

It has been nearly 6 months since I last played a majour. So it feels good to be playing!
I thought I would share my thoughts with you all and see if it is just me whop thinks this is bizare.

Day 1 started with 708 player all with 10,000 chips and a 1 hour clock. A decent blind structure and great atomosphere.

To end the day early must have been done due to the pace that the feild was dropiping
Even after level 5 that is 5 hours of play we had lost over 350 players???¿¿¿¿¿?Huh?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿

I was not complaing the quicker I win this the quicker I can get back to work Smiley

Anyway I hope that tomorrow morning I have more exciting tales of the day and more schoking stories like a man I tried to get of a hand at the start of level 3.
I raised like I was doing a lot but had decided to play a little tighter now I had build up to 40K. he reraised me from 700 to 2500. I thought for a while and decided to set him in as I was confident he cant call me without QQ KK AA. I was wrong he decided to put his tourny on the line pushing his 8K he had left over the line with AK. When I asked him why his reasonable explaination was that he decided if I reraised him he was calling!
Ok I said TY.
I know I was aggressive but I had up to that point only turned over top hands and I had not lost 1 pot I had been called down with or 1 showdown. But hey I was happy I know he will pay me off.
My favourite had yesterday was my raise UTG with  6 callers as normal as if you look up respect in the dictionary you will see my picture! the flop comes  I bet and get 2 callers, the turn brings the  to which I continue to bet and get 2 callers with the river  Two Diamonds a further bet with only 1 call.
Always easy when you hit Smiley

Hey Jen, fellow French updater here..

Small typo as Cyril's last name should be spelled "Bensoussan"

Only 4 Frenchies left in the comp' if my memory is correct, my work shouldnt be exhausting today...

It's oh so quiet here at 1pm - an expanse of empty green chairs which yesterday supported so very many poker players, including our chip leader Paul Gourlay, whose rise to dominance occurred rather suddenly while we were all thinking that the day would be drawing to a gentle close any minute.

I have no idea why I am awake currently, but it might be a good idea to go have some breakfast in the brief sunshine before the tournament restarts at 3.

Very briefly, a pictorial lesson in what can sometimes happen when you can't be found in the tournament - yesterday we went on a vain hunt for Eamonn Walsh, but it took his friends to find him around 3am...

1) Find him in less than salubrious surroundings
2) Check his pulse
3) Having ascertained he's OK, point and laugh

Those lads are a credit to County Mayo. At least Danny looks in reasonable shape which is a good job as he's the only one left. Good Luck. Maigheo Abu.
