I think the generally held view on when the Simpsons jumped the shark was the episode called Tennis the Menace, which was where Homer and Marge had a tennis court somehow built in their never previously big enough back garden. This episode saw awfully crowbarred cameo appearances from Agassi, Sampras and the Willams sisters.

It's without question my favourite all time tv show and would in some form be my first choice for a mastermind specialist subject (I'd barrow it down to a block of series, though; be like saying "the works of Shakespeare").

Harry Shearer going will be a desperately sad moment for the show. I am convinced they'll have to bring in new actors for the voices (been done before, of course), just because there are too many not to replace.

Not sure what episode it was for me, but you are spot on with the cameos. It used to be a rare treat, but then it became a routune thing which detracted from the actual show.

The movie was the final nail in the coffin.

I also probably could have masterminded late 1990s Simpsons. For a while I was able to tell you what episode it was just from the coach scene.

Then thankfully I finally had sex.

The Tony Hawk skateboarding 300th episode was rather a push, too.

The best cameos were the ones we didn't know about, like Elizabeth Taylor and Michael Jackson. A bit like recognising a "caller" on Frasier.

The callers were cameos? Why was I not made aware of this before.

Over the years I have watched every Frasier at least twice, I don't recall any of them, maybe the Bacon one. I must have been watching with my ears shut! There are some massively distinctive voices there that I'm sure I would have noticed like Lithgow, that does make me wonder though.

Over the years I have watched every Frasier at least twice, I don't recall any of them, maybe the Bacon one. I must have been watching with my ears shut! There are some massively distinctive voices there that I'm sure I would have noticed like Lithgow, that does make me wonder though.

I went years not knowing too and I am a huge Frasier fan. Then one day I saw one which was clearly Joe Pesci and the penny dropped for me, after that it added a new fun layer of depth to the show, trying to guess who it was.
