With small pairs pocket 7's and lower what is the optimum i should pay preflop in a £1 £1 cash game?

I always sit down with £100 topping up if i get down to £60.

My normal play is to pay up to £7 by limp calling in multiway pots .

Could i pay if it was almost a family pot?

Differcult to say in a vacuum. At tough 9 handed tbls (very unlikely in a £1/1 live game) you can fold 22-55. I always raise pairs in unopened pots, limp calling from EP turns your hand face up to any1 with a clue and you should look to have a balanced game. If the pots opened you can just flat and look to play a pot multiway spike a set and win money.
