1966  Poker Forums / The Rail / GUKPT/Genting Poker Series clash in 2014 on: November 14, 2013, 10:35:25 AM
Seems like GUKPT and Genting have decided to schedule the first tournaments of their 2014 seasons on the same weekend. 7-9 February 2014. This seems like an incredibly stupid decision, especially as there seems to be a free weekend following it. Anyone know people that organise these tours so they can 'ave a word? If one of them moves a week later then there are four weeks in a row with 4 good comps. UKIPT Edinburgh, GPS, GUKPT and the Sky 1k at DTD. There is no sense at all for them to clash, it will hurt numbers in both events and the players miss out. If one of them moves now then I don't imagine anyone will have booked travel or hotels yet, so it will cause minimal problems

The Astronomical clock in Prague is surely one of the most disappointing let downs of a tourist sight in Europe. Possibly second only to the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen!

Love Prague, will do down to at least play one or two tournies in December. I think this is a great festival!

Am sure this will be a great tournament.

Have a couple of questions.

1. It says players can have one entry and one re-entry per day one. Does that mean in theory I can fire 6 bullets, two online and two on each of the day one's at the club?
2. The buy in is £400+40, but for 1a online it says £430+10. How does that work?

Cheers!

Hi

1. technically you could fire 6 bullets if you were so unlucky. entry + Re entry per day.
2. we have to charge a portion of the reg fee to cover online costs this is the reason its split to £430 + £10 essentially still cost to the player is £440 total

Hope that helps, We will be launching a joint sat programme in the coming weeks

So If I'm playing the online day one - £430 of my buy in goes into the total overall prizepool and £10 is rake? Have I understood that right? If I have then fair enough!

EDITED BECAUSE I CAN'T USE THE QUOTES!

Seems like a great schedule and nice to have a freezeout for once too!

re-entry or one bullet only?

The Main Event is a proper freeze out, single bullet jobbie.

Mizzi and Teltscher at the final of the High Roller. Just needed Bonomo for the multiaccounting triple!

Hope Devilfish wins, that would be epic.

Enquiring for a friend. When will seats be available for  European Amateur Poker Championship in Prague in December. And do you have to be British to play it or can you be of any nationality?

Cheers.

FWIW, last year, WCG was at my starting table in wsop main. He arrived slightly late looking somewhat flustered, drinking coffee. The conversation between him and a guy to his left soon got onto the issue of online poker, the DOJ etc etc, and WCG was quite proudly telling the table that he had won $30k that morning vs a "reg fish" playing 50/100 and this was why he was a little late. Someone questioned how he managed that, and he said something along the lines of "well I didn't go to Canada and back". So im sure it doesn't bother him that people know he is playing stars from the US.
@redarmi, I disagree with you somewhat. Although not on the same scale as what this josh guy has allegedly done, IF WCG is playing from the US then he is in clear violation of the sites policies and im sure he would be banned if stars found out. Our feelings about the law on online poker in the US are irrelevant imo.

Sounds like you have strong opinions about this and about integrity in the game. Where do you stand on the issue of multi accounting by playing on someone elses Stars account. Should people be banned for this too?

It was only a small one!

Pretty awesome to wake up and go on the deck every morning and then just walk three minutes to the casino!
1977  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Estrellas Poker Tour Barcelona on: July 23, 2013, 11:49:57 PM
yeah you can just leave your money inside on deposit in 500 euro increments. I would advise never carrying money outside unless you are directly going to get a taxi from right outside.

It was bad 10 years ago when I went.

Ridiculous the situation is still bad all these years later.

I rented a boat in the harbour at Port Olimpic a few months ago for WPT (not nearly as balla as it sounds!)

Had to run the gauntlet of all the guys outside everytime I walked down to the boats, they just latch on to you and follow you, first try to sell you beer and then drugs and then just follow you. Eye contact or stopping is fatal. Anywhere along the beach is the same.

I've lived in some rough places like South London and Oakland, California and even so I was intimidated.

Such a great city but yeah, if you leave the casino walking with cash in your pocket at night then you are taking a big risk. Be sensible everyone and GL at Estrellas Keith...

Believe you can buy into all tourneys with debit card and they charge 0.75% vig. Can't see a problem with cash on the day, though there could end up being a lockout for 1b. Surely the best way is just to deposit into Stars and then direct buy in through there.

Queues may depend on how many people lost their PSLive card!

Looking forward to it. I love Barcelona!

What's with this war on mediocre regs all of a sudden. Leave us alone!
