That was a very eloquent explanation. I like the idea of bringing your comfort zone into mine.
I kind of instinctively understand the relationship between maths and physics, for instance I would be able to estimate where I needed to place the fulcrum in order to make one kilo lift ten kilos, what I don't understand is if all the physical things disappeared, would mathematics still exist, and if and if they all came back again in another big bang, would the rules still be the same?
Mathematics is a process that is applied to the physical things. If there were no physical things then why would you need mathematics?
If everything disappeared and then came back exactly the same why wouldn’t the rules still be the same?
If it came back different, I would expect the rules to be different.
Thanks, now my head hurts more than my leg and maybe I can go back to sleep
My god, that was written by someone with attitude!
I hadn’t intended to sound* quite so abrupt.
JonMW appears to have understood the question better than I have anyway.
*Can the written word sound abrupt?

Isn't this the same distinction as between maths and physics?

I'm confused. Tony writ what he wrote before you wrote what you writ so you couldn't have sounded abrupt to him.
He doesn't seem to discriminate, he is omni-grumpy. I've decided to find it charming.
Anyway, that pie bloke and his disappearing bears seems to dig where I'm coming from.

This is actually a brilliant observation.

I love this so much. I do hope it referred to me.

You know that thing when you approach an escalator & it is not working?
You can SEE it is not working, & you adjust your body posture & leg positions accordingly before getting on. And yet we still over-balance & feel all weird when we get on.
Then we have 30 seconds of walking up or down before we get to the other end. And the same thing happens, even though our mind & body had all that time & evidence to adjust.
Sometimes our minds malfunction & tell us fibs.

A random bloke in a nightclub (At least I think he was random as I didn't recognise him) once said to me, "As soon as you say what? I'm going to punch you in the face".
And before you ask, yes, of course I said it immediately. The next thing I knew I was being escorted from the premises for bleeding all over the place and posing a health hazard.

Could have been far worse Tom.
Pretty sure you set me up to Post this, one of my favourite film scenes ever.

I was going to say I bet my bloke pinched it from Tarantino but mine was 1975 so I guess Tarantino pinched it from my bloke.

You reminded me of it because the entrance to the nightclub was via an escalator that was always switched off

I don't think I get the escalator wobble feeling, but when I'm sitting in a stationery railway carriage and the one on the line next to it moves, I almost fall off my seat.
BTW- Is it called stationary because it's in the station?

I'm watching The Thames: Britain's Great River.
It's good, and it's on Sky or channel 5 catchup.
