Yes. You can wait for a better spot if everyone is playing so poorly.

Absolutely.

As this is a cash game then assuming he is properly bankrolled then surely there is no need to wait for a better spot if this is even a very slightly +EV situation?

Fair point, but I don't see any +EV here and pass.

correct, in fact even if I deem a spot to be completely EV neutral I think its better to call rather then fold for metagame reasons that come into play later (ie the image that you are a wreckless gambler thus generating action later on when you are nutted up)

most people aren't rolled correctly though, thats why there are so many bad-beat stories and so much anger when they lose, the money means too much to them

As for the hand in question, it looks a pretty clear fold absent accurate reads.. too high a chance of getting quartered and too low a chance of scooping.. which is generally a pretty bad situation to be in

I'd be surprised if it was +EV.

Fair enough we shouldn't always fear monsters, and some players do play surprising hands, but why put a lot of cash in the middle drawing to no real high, and an easily counterfeitable low, when at least one player is demonstrating strength?

There's not much value in drawing to win half the pot. In split-pot games the big +EV comes from scooping.

It sounds like Ironside made a good play previously and got unlucky. That doesn't mean he should make a bad play here to try to  get lucky.

So it wouldn't really be EV neutral anymore then, after factoring in the implied odds of future action it might bring.

In a weak loose online game here, it's unlikely anyone is paying attention to image.

I disagree, you gotta give action to get action, even in the loosest of games.

Even the biggest fish can spot a rock. You'll still get paid off in these games, but it is slightly less likely if you have been seen to never gamble.

i was which is why i although i think the play i made was terrible in these low limit  loose games with nutters on the table it helps to be able to play like a nutter

i think the trick is to work out who is betting with what here its important to remember the people bet there low hands and high hands and there draws its also important to know that people will call a draw for half a pot agaisnt you

ironside: calls $18
