Title: O/T new job Post by: AdamM on May 11, 2006, 10:50:43 AM after this thread http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=9320.0 I did some soul searching and decided to go back to work. One consideration was when DTD opens in December it'll be dealer dealt so I won't be able to subsidise my playing with dealing. I'll have to have a much healthier bankroll if I'm going to play properly. Other obvious factors were providing better for the family and wanting to enjoy poker again. same day I saw an advert for a job that looked interesting. Test player for a fruit machine development company. Well, an good letter and two interviews later I have the job and start in a couple of weeks. Money is VERY good. Starting salary is better than when I worked in a bank and it can double in the roll Im in and if I get into design can get upto 50k/70k.
Shuffle Up Shirts will continue to trade but anything the company makes will be for luxurys / bankroll instead of covering household bills. Probably means I'll spend my evenings and weekends making DTD shirts but thats ok. It'll be a relief to play poker again without the pressure of finding the next grocery shop. :dd: Title: Re: O/T new job Post by: Nem on May 11, 2006, 10:58:12 AM Good Luck mate.

Horrible when Poker becomes a "job" rather than an enjoyable past time - the pressure's of NEEDING to make money :( Title: Re: O/T new job Post by: Heid on May 11, 2006, 12:39:01 PM Nice one Adam!
Fruit machine tester! What a fab job! Title: Re: O/T new job Post by: Tonji on May 11, 2006, 12:44:15 PM Good luck mate, sounds like a good job. Its giving you more options to boost your bankroll, & not having to worry about bills & stuff. Sounds like you'll be busy, Family, Job, T-shirts, & Poker.

Title: Re: O/T new job Post by: AdamM on June 03, 2006, 11:34:39 AM just finished my first week. awsome job. I've spend much of the week beating a new quiz game, which is giving the programmers some head aches and next week I'm testing a new 9 reel fruit machine. I work with a great bunch of blokes (who'll bet on anything as you'd expect) in a relaxed atmosphere for very generous money. thanks to my touch at the casino last week I'm playing of a dedicated bankroll for the first time in a year too.
At last, life's good. now to get caught up on a weeks worth of blonde ;slavedriver; Title: Re: O/T new job Post by: The_nun on June 03, 2006, 11:40:16 AM Really pleased for you Adam...eased that presure.. now time to enjoy life..

Title: Re: O/T new job Post by: AdamM on June 03, 2006, 12:40:00 PM as Nem would say, LARVE IT
yeah, as well as the testing, it's a chance to use my imagination. I don't draw so, I've never been able to get into design as a career. I am a very creative person though and this is a chance I can design without a need for artistic ability. Im told it's very rewarding to see your own machine through from design to release. never know, yuo might see a poker based fruit machine or skill/quiz game before long Title: Re: O/T new job Post by: Royal Flush on June 03, 2006, 04:57:07 PM Fantastic stuff, happy for you Adam. Seems like you are feeling a lot better! Nice to have that weight lifted!

Title: Re: O/T new job Post by: suzanne on June 04, 2006, 12:06:06 AM Glad to hear you are enjoying your new job Adam :)up
When I was 18 I worked in a popular bar in Edinburgh that was FULL of fruit machines and the latest new video games ie Pacman, Galaxy, Asteroids and the first 3d tank game...anyone remember that? (Showing my age now). This pub was one of the first to get the new "Talking" fruit machine which to start with was very popular. It had one small flaw though...when you switched it on it gave 10 free games. So when the pub was dead at 3pm ish me and my mate would switch it off and on and clean it out :D |
