I'm not sure if this fold was correct. A lot of it depends on reads... absent any reads though it probably is most prudent to fold here. One line I might suggest is that you check behind on the turn, and try and get to showdown. If he bets $10 on the river, then you can use the same $10 you spent on the turn to call on the river and get to showdown.

The inherent problem with doing this is that it lets people catch up cheaply.. but at the same time it controls the pot to the extent that you dont get bluffed off the hand by people overvaluing second best holdings. If you know the villain well enough to say that he will never raise you on the turn unless he has a 10, then betting is more then fine, but against unknowns, I'd likely excercise a modicum of control over the actions and just get myself to showdown, and give him a chance to bluff an amount that you can call, and also give him a chance to put you on AK and value bet into you. IF he checks into you again on the river, then you can fire off a value-bet

I'm not suggesting that this line is better then just betting the turn, just a casual throw-out of different lines you might want to take if you are going to bet the turn with the intention of folding to a jam.

I'd definately raise a lot more preflop as well, not because you dont want people in the pot, but because you dont want them in the pot too cheaply. Remember that any time you have AA, its probable that someone is going to have great implied odds on your stack, because they are so hard to fold, so the more you raise preflop, the less implied odds you are laying them... and the more money you are getting in the pot when your hand is certainly the best. People love calling, and raising more preflop gives em a chance to do what they do best

If he had pocket 4's, big if an excessive raise..I think...as he'd want to keep you in. Just my opinion.

If he had 44 in his hand then I think you need to add him to your buddy list and play him when you can :)
