Having stayed up tow atch the fight I think Ricky was very lucky to have the decision go his way. 

IMO he was outvoxed for the majority of the fight and was lucky that his opponent never seemed to have the power that he can expect to meet if he stays in this division.

I was also dissapointed with the undercard that SKy Box Office produced the first fight on the Hatton bout was class but wasted by bad referreing.

Clinton woods done well but as for the rest of the fights, the majority where no better than amateur fights I would have expected a quality night of boxing having forked out £15 or for the fight.

Hopefully Ricky can go on from this but I wouldn;t facny his chances against any the bigger punchers in that division I reckon he will be going back down in weight.

Not lucky, He won that by at least 2 points for me, Collazo had the cleaner shots, but Hatton was landing alot more. He was right on top of him in every round, sacraficed defence for workrate (as he always does)

HBO's copybox stats also had Hatton landing more with higher percentage. Add the 10-8 round at start and we have a 115-112 Hatton. Was suprised Hatton didn't cut though as he usually does. Also thought Ricky should of been warned for excessive holding.

Definetly one of, or thee toughest fight of his career though. Back to the drawing board for Billy, get Ricky working that damn jab!  Ricky needs a fight with Gatti now to restore faith back into US public for that mega fight with PBF.  Gatti's style would suit Hitman perfectly.

It was a good fight I thought.  Hatton sure is flying high in the boxing world now.   Where will this rank him pound for pound?

Wladimir Klitschko in 3rd    Shane Mosley in 11th.  Both ahead of Hatton and Calzage.  I don't think the sugar shane mosley of the last couple of years deserves to be that high up.

He did just enough to win it but I think he was lucky to get the decision over there. In Vegas he'd lose that fight. Credit to the judges for getting it right (for a change)
It really wins me up when commentators bang on and on about 1/2 stone weight difference being a big factor in a fight. for a start even at light welterwieght (10st max) Ricky would weight well over 11st on fight day. If there are height and reach advantages associated with a bigger fighter that's a different matter but niether fighter weighed anywhere near the 10 1/2st on the stats. Punch power isnt affected by weight or muscle, especially close punches like hooks and uppercuts, it's about rotation and speed. a couple of pounds either way wont affect that. Hatton will never be a fighter who works off a jab. he's a brawler. close distance => hook body => hook head => uppercut => repeat till final bell or broken ribs.

Ian Darke may well know his stats and facts but sometimes it's obvious listening to him he's never fought himself.

close fight and Hatton will have to improve to beat the best Welterweights, but saying that, still proud of him. GO ON RICKY

Had his opponent had any puncghing power Ricky would have been on the canvas by mid way.  Hattonw as out=boxed last night and made too look very ordinary.  He should have been floored in the 12th also - but mateboy just lacked power

He was not lucky last night, he was against an opponent that he was more than capable of beating, and did.

On average, all the reports I have read, have Hatton winning by 2-4 rounds.

I had Hatton winning by 2 rounds.  By no means a vintage performance but he did win the fight.

I'm so used to hatton demolishon jobs that when he puts in a sub standard perforfance(albeit a winning one) i'm inclined to give him a bit more stick than i would others.

He won, but dissapointingly!

I scored the fight as a draw.

I still feel Hatton was lucky to have won the fight. 

I have a helluva lot of admiration for Ricky and he is one of my favourite sport stars but was dissapointed with him last night and as soon as he ocmes up against a power puncher in this division he is done for.

One thing that never seemed to work for him last night was his body shots these normally cripps his opponents.  Jim Watt made a commenet about how better boxers keep their guard tight and son't let decent body punchers get at them whats the opinions on that?

Collazo was a difficult opponent, Hattons toughest fight so far. Collazo is a south paw as well, and is very tall, so you can see why it was his most difficult fight. I do think that his trainer has to go back to the drawing board if he has any chance against the top fighters. Hatton may have to change style and learn how to jab, or he will simply be picked off by the best.

tysu was the best for how many years,i'm not sure? but he wore, what had been one of the tightest defences for a decade, down with the ferocity of his body shots.

he was'nt jolly for that fight either.

i dont subscribe to that theory, just an off night i think.

If you nick a win when putting in a below standard performance at this level then it shows the true class of ricky hatton i think.

The only time i've known hatton to be odds against in he's proffessional career was agains tsu and he slaughtered him.

who are these better opponents and what level of class is he yet to achieve.

I quoted Hatton. He said that this was his toughest fight so far. The Tszyu fight look great on paper but in reality he was an old man who had only fought 3 rounds in 2 years and against a hungry younger man in Hatton. Castillo, PBF, DLH, , Cotto, Mosley etc.. are the better opponents I'm talking about.

Hatton was looking to his next opponent before this fight. I think he underestimated Collazo.

Still think he did enough to win but not by much. PBF will beat Hatton eyes shut on this performance.
