Title: SNG standards vs buy-ins Post by: ShotOfTheDaySoFar on July 29, 2005, 03:44:27 AM Hi all - Read something the other day on here (sorry, can't remember exactly where), where someone was suggesting that the standard of play in SNGs wasn't relative to the buy-in level - I think the idea was that relatively decent players might congregate around the 10 level, for example, but that buy-ins above that might attract more than their fair share of gamblers, and actually be easier to beat.
Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this, or on SNG playing standards on different sites? I've mostly only played Crypto SNGs, which at the 10 level at least seem to me to have become quite a bit tougher in recent months. (Maybe it's just me....) Only played a few on Pacific, which seem at first glance substantially easier. All thoughts much appreciated. Cheers. the ten pounds ones i find difficult for some reason , they are a mixture of learners who can be difficult to play against or at least make moves/bluff against and good players on a smaller bankroll 20 ,30 usually a more experienced player who is a bit easier to play (i know that sounds a contradiction) and the more successful 10 players moving up 50-100 normally the better player i use normally/usually a lot because in all the stakes there are exceptions to the rule and there are a few things to bear in mind there are v good and atrocious players at all the levels - more cash doesent always mean better player find a level you are comfortable with stake wise and dont move up until you can afford the losses - nothing worse than playing with scared money try and keep notes on all players you play in the stt`s - you will then realise the good and bad at every level Title: Re: SNG standards vs buy-ins Post by: byronkincaid on July 29, 2005, 10:24:39 AM I think the problem might be sample size, of course sometimes you're going to play a 50 sng where everyones out by level 2 and a 10 where everyones a rock, but if you play a few thousand then things equal out. I've played a lot of sngs and I'm absolutely certain that the higher the buy in the less number of complete idiots you get.
