Title: do you play your loved ones like a game of poker??????
Post by: girliexpokerfanx on July 29, 2005, 03:45:22 PM
i just wanted to say that i think pokers fantastic, i love watching and playing. I just wanted other poker players opinion's to see if the game has effected their personal life at all?

I have tried to bulid A relationship with a poker player but i keep getting played like a game of poker!!!! they seem to be unable to build any meaningful relationship with me they constantly toy with my emotions and play on my weakness's, i have come to the conclusion that
    A. They think lifes one big poker game
    B. They have no emotions and are selfish wankers

Can you have both poker and loved ones?

I would really appreciate any advice.
Kind Regards

My Wife, Dad and Mum all play because of my interest in the game. My Wife is a very strong player and my mum is a maniac and has persuaded me to take her along to a beginers night at Notts Gala in a couple of weeks.

LOOK OUT NOTTS

The trouble with poker is it's addictive, obsessive and takes up a hell of a lot of time.
These make it difficult for having a relationship with someone who does not share the passion with you, men are men, you just picked the wrong wanker ;D

IFM - wish i could choose to love him, its my Dad so pretty much stuck with that,  just read some posts saying that they would never put poker before their kids- just wanted to say- Their kids are very lucky, it would make my world for my dad to ask me to watch him play! i would be so proud,

Ahh, I thought you meant a love interest, a wrong take on the thread by me.

Maybe he doesn't realise you like poker?

edit: Maybe it would make his day to hear "Dad, I'd really like to come and watch you play poker sometime".

i see, some folks have different priorities from others.
I'll never forget a couple of days after my ex told me she was pregnant i said to her "you do realise that we are going to be interconnected for the rest of our lives don't you?"
Her "we might not stay together forever"
me "i wasn't talking about us"
I have a pal who got a girl pregnant when he was 18, he has never spoken a word to that lad and yet his folks always had time for their grandson who is now i guess 18 himself.

he says he'l take me, but its just another broken promise to add to the list. i honestly think he doesnt want to be a dad after reading all the other posts.
his loss not mine - it doesnt stop me from enjoying poker still!  hey one day might play against him in a comp!!

I was one of those that will never miss a weekend or a night with my kids for a game of poker. I'd miss just about anything else though! I'm sad today because my kids are going away for a fortnight with their mum, will miss them like mad.

my eldest is 9 and he's got as far as "those two A's are a good hand Dad aren't they?" and "Dad, why have you got less points than all the others?!!!!"

join up to your dad's game and go without telling him...pray you are drawn on the same table, play him aggressively and then say you are going the next time he goes.

and if you still get hassle, pm any of us and we'll take you along!

My daughter said "poker" for the first time this evening. She's 18 months old. I don't think the Mrs was too happy but I'm kind of hoping she'll be crushing the $5 sngs by the time she's 5 :)

If you're around the midlands area than the Notts 10 "rookie" game on a tuesday would be a good start, and they're are always some blondites there to show you around as well.

Probably curious to know where's not to far to Notts but closer to Manchester. there's probably a dozen places that fit that discription that have casinos of their own.
