Howdy all. It’s been a couple of months now (I think) since the blonde site was relaunched. It’s been a lot of hard work, but I, and all the other contributors for that matter, have thoroughly enjoyed offering our services. I sincerely hope that people have enjoyed the site and the content provided.

However, to move forward, it is sometimes necessary to obtain the thoughts of its users, many of whom utilise this very forum. Therefore, I’d be highly appreciative if you could take a few minutes of your time to answer the following questions. The feedback would be welcomed with open arms, and I’d be forever at your mercy (well, okay, that last bit was a lie).

I browse around looking for something to grab my attention. Anything that says free food, that sort of thing. No being serious. I normally read the blogs by members. Tightend, Tikay, Tank, Yourself, Red and all the other Blondites

The colours threw me to begin with. But now I like it. I even changed my avatar to fit in with the yellow and black layout. Penguins are yellow and black.

I think it is an important part of the Blonde structure. Some people use the site on a daily basis. By taking away that from them would seem unfair. I like it and think it should stay

(10) What are your thoughts on the current design? Do you approve? What changes would you make if this were your responsibility? I'm going to be honest and say I don't like the design. It's too dark and gloomy and all the stuff on the homepage is crammed making it uneasy on the eye. I do like the bold headings with short intro underneath, it helps me to decide whether I want to read it or not. The small pictures add a bit of life to the page, if it was just text I wouldn't find it very appealing to look at.

I like it on the whole, although I think the front home page needs tweaking, the grey margins on each side seem like a waste of space, & Blondepoker logo IMO should be at the top.

I would lighten the site a little - overall the site is fine and the changes improved the look alot especially the main site.

Very positive - you have seen massive growth, the boards were to small.  The main site now contains alot more info, but offers an alternative format to the forum, to see that information.

First off, the blogs seem to be especially popular, so I'm going to try and find a better way to present them. At the moment, they're kind of hidden in the menu bar, but there really is some great stuff in there that is crying out to be brought more to the forefront of the site.

Nope, I'd never be offended if you didn't have it as your homepage. Please don't worry about being critical or speaking negatively here guys. Have to be honest and sometimes brutal to move forward.

Where to play section... I'm considering adding a section to this on hotels. Apologies to whoever suggested this to me. I've forgotten who it was so can't credit them. Anyhow, it's going to have all hotel details surrounding the various casinos. Would you guys find that useful? A google map feature is also being mulled over.

Interesting that you mentioned the grey margins in the design. I'm looking to add the banner onto the forum (as suggested by Nemesis). However, the forum is wider, so the banner needs to be lengthened. This will offer an extra menu option, whilst also making the main site wider, therebye shortening the margins. I too think it's a waste of space, and I also think a thinner banner will mean people don't have to scroll down as much.

Interviews... Yes, I've tried to bump this up a bit. Hence, the JP interview. I've purchased a dictophone, so hopefully more to come.

Just in case any1 missed this.

When you first launch your browser, the homepage is the first page that crops up. If you so wish, you can set blondepoker.com as that page by selecting 'set as homepage' in the 'home' section of the menu just underneath the main banner. (This currently only works if you use Internet Explorer, but if you have Firefox (as I do), then I believe you can do it via tools - options in the menu bar at the top) -- can some1 confirm that?

Visited the home page once or twice, seems pointless visiting a page each day for the sake of it, i have the forum set as a favourite link instead.

Far too busy for me, too much going on, nice simple cleanly laid out layouts for me only. Its too much for your eyes to take in at once, so your mind shuts off and says stuff looking at that. Which is why i have never bothered going back to the home page. I guess if i'm honest it looks like every other boring homepage out there. Blondepoker is something different to anything available out there, i think its website should fall under this bracket too. My opinions on websites are somewhat different to the masses, so don't take anything personally, it's just my opinion.

Two things:

1 - Royal Flush stories on spunking uber stacks with less than average hands.

2 - Bit more freedom of speech, moderation of forums is very important without doubt, moderate too much and you end up with a whole bunch of people who don't really say what they want to and conversations that don't quite reach the extent that they could.

Only really see it in my head as a great forum, so i guess not.

I am a member of quite a few forums and the layout and the user friendliness of this one is probably the worst to be honest. (in my opinion) the forum indexes are more complicated than they need to be, why do we have child boards? these only confused me in my first few days here, don't see the point, just list them and we can choose accordingly. I also find it the very hardest forum to know whether i am up to date with a thread, whether ive read it etc. This may be me being thick, however there are far easier forums to navigate. When i visit a forum, immediately i want to know, which threads have new posts in since i last visited, whether i have read the thread is immaterial, i will open each one up and read the newest posts etc.

Just read back through my answers and they seem a little negative, they are just me being honest is all i can say. Its a shame but we do not spend enough time complimenting on things in life, i guess my view is that by visiting your site i am paying the highest compliment i could. I see no need for the latest forum topics section, I think if there's one thing that doesn't need much more plugging, it's the forum. Everyone already knows and loves it.
So it only serves to clutter up the homepage and I think it should be the first thing to go in any clean up.

Yes, I think quality breeds quality.
With so many good authors such as Snoopy, Jen, Tightend, Tikay, RED-DOG and others regularly contributing, I think they all spur each other on to deliver the goods.

If anything, it needs cleaned up. More on the bar, less on the homepage.

Yes, as it is updated more often with better content, it makes it worth visiting a few times a week.
Before the forum was just a one stop shop for me. On the very rare occasions that I did look at the main site, it was just too darn yellow.

Your obvious annoyance to people not answering as you wish here, is probably due to people only reading your initial thread and then posting their answers at that time so as not to forget to do them. With posts so long to read, many will not bother and just solely post their thoughts after reading your first post. This is what i did here anyway and after having read through my answers, they hardly seem forum based anyway except for the final question.

Sometimes you put some effort in to help someone and you still get moaned at!

It was a tongue in cheek comment cos i felt like a naughty boy being told off, was just light hearted and not serious at all. Don't take it personally.

Trust me i am more than aware on how much work goes into sites of this size and popularity, see my occupation if you are in any doubt. You have built a great site and more importantly a great reputation, all other forums are in decline because of this one - that is one hell of an achievement.

Answering 15 short questions is a drop in the ocean (timewise) compared to the work you have to do, however so far this thread hasn't filled in 3 pages yet. This is the general apathy people have towards things that are working well.

I always like the "content is king" quote for websites. It's key for people wanting to return daily to the same sites. The main website I believe is good, its still relatively new and will no doubt improve interms of its content and direction over time. At the moment the forums are the only place I head to, a quick glance on the main site now and then. Quiz/Caption comps etc are a real good step in the right direction and I really like how its going.

Not sure about deletion but I think "hand of the week" doesn't live up to its name as there is not a hand every week!
Also tips and tricks. This is a good section in theory and some good articles here, but a more regular submission would be gratefully received. More to say on this later.

I do, there's some great stuff on offer but I personally would have a greater bias toward poker technique and style. Also the news is a little biased toward UK events and American events tend to only get a mention when a UK player excels in them.

I'm colourblind so some of the problems other people have mentioned don't really bother me! Overall I think the site design is ok, i haven't got a problem with the forum.

As alluded to earlier, i think the site lacks strategy articles. Most poker sites tend to have some of these and they are great fodder for generating discussion. Two Plus Two started a section called "Play a hand with the masters" or soemthing, in which a hand was posted and several of their leading players commented on plays stage by stage from preflop through flop and on each street. This was a superb idea and a similar thing on blonde would be great.

General poker articles on strategy would also be good.

Also, more world poker news would be great. More interviews with top players would also be a great addition if possible.

Seldom.  Not as much as I should I am being honest because when Id o visit I like to have a good look through and read most of the articles on offer.  I would say I probably visit the main site about once a week sometimes more but sometimes never at all.

I like to browse and read the most updated articles.  I especially like to read the blog entries.

No.  I don’t know why though because it’s the first place I head when on the net – well to the forum anyway.  But as my ISP is changing from wanadoo to Orange soon  - on a matter of principle I think I may change my home page to Blonde – my future is most definitely not Orange.

Far too busy, it needs to be cleaned up in order to make it easier to navigate.  I prefer websites to be clean and user friendly, although once on the main site you know where to look for what but if you’re a new user its very sore on the eyes.

I have an idea for the poker room. Maybe you could organise certain tournaments, maybe once a week or something, that offer material prizes rather than cash. Just an idea to mix things up a little but and also set Blonde apart from the other poker rooms.

This might take a while, I used to get paid to pick holes in my company's websites.

-The photos next to articles on the left hand side of the main page need to become clickable links. This is also true of other sections e.g. internet card rooms, scene and heard, tournament reports, player profiles etc.
-I'd like to see the top banner become a clickable link to the homepage
-In general I dislike the navigation of the site. I've actually had a proper look around before answering this and there's so much content that I never knew was there because of the awkward navigation
-A more specific comment on navigation- in the UK cardrooms section if for example I want to see what's happening in Luton I have to guess which page no. 1-6 the info will be on. The alphabetical list on the old site was much more user friendly
-Only a personal opinion but to me the tables at the top of each page of the uk cardroom section comtaining the address and opening hours look as though something's gone wrong while rendering the page

that should keep you going for a while
