Title: Favourite whisky Post by: ayrshireChris on May 24, 2006, 02:02:55 AM Seeing as theres's some real random stuff on here i thought i'd see what your favoutire whisky's are.
Mine, in terms of a reasonable drink are 1. laphroaig 2. The Macallan 3. Glenfiddich I'm also partial to a bruichladdich, glenmorangie, and lagavulin The order of these may depend on how much of each i have consumed at any time. Chris Title: Re: Favourite whisky Post by: thetank on May 24, 2006, 02:11:41 AM I like the speyside malts, Aberlour is the fave. Glenmorangie is what I'll usually 'ave in the pub.
I like a Glenkinchie too, but it's a girlie whisky. I dislike Islay Malts, far too peaty/smoky for my liking. Title: Re: Favourite whisky Post by: The Baron on May 24, 2006, 02:16:23 AM JTS Brown
Title: Re: Favourite whisky Post by: RED-DOG on May 24, 2006, 02:23:30 AM My favourite whiskey was a little brown dog that lived on the bed behind the drivers seat in the cab of a Bedford TK lorry. It stole my heart when it crapped on Peter Locke's chips!

I thought you were going to finish by telling everyone how much you luuurved them and singing shawaddywaddy songs in the back garden. Title: Re: Favourite whisky Post by: thetank on May 24, 2006, 03:33:33 AM Lets be dropping that 'e' there bobby (and RED).......
A Scotsman who spells Whisky with an ‘e’, should be hand cuffed and thrown head first in the Dee. In the USA and Ireland, it’s spelt with an ‘e’ but in Scotland it’s real ‘Whisky’. So if you see Whisky and it has an ‘e’, only take it, if you get it for free! For the name is not the same and it never will be, a dram is only a real dram, from a bottle of ‘Scotch Whisky’. Title: Re: Favourite whisky Post by: rivered on May 24, 2006, 10:30:33 AM I once went to a tasting evening at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society - interesting night out. Much like a wine tasting evening, they talk about how different tastes come about, how it's made, and then they show you how to taste and what to look out for. They have their own 'bar' in London which is open to members only.
The bar serves whisky (obviously), coffee and water. Nothing else. All whiskys are cask strength as well, and they advise you to dilute with a small amount of distilled water.All the whiskys are not labelled - you just tell the barman what flavour you want and what price range you want, and he pours you a dram. Very civilised place. Having worked for a Scottish Bank for over 7 years now, I've had the chance to try a fair few out, and have a very nice vintage bottle of Talisker which I keep for special evenings. That is the top of my list right now. Title: Re: Favourite whisky Post by: Claw75 on May 24, 2006, 10:46:45 AM yuck
Title: Re: Favourite whisky Post by: Sark79 on May 24, 2006, 10:56:08 AM Would I be commiting a mortal sin if I drank whisky with Diet-Coke ? ;scarymoment;
I am more of a Frijji milkshake drinker. Especially the limited edition cocktail version that blended banana and chocolate together . That was a strong one. I did share a bottle of JD once with a friend when I was about 18 . I lay on the couch thinking about my Will the following day as I thought my hangover was going to kill me. Title: Re: Favourite whisky Post by: Bongo on May 24, 2006, 01:04:26 PM Had a Glenmorangie aged in Sherry cask once - bloody wonderfull stuff. Never seen it again since - probably a good thing. I think they had it half price in Asda not long back - really good stuff for £12 a bottle. That could have been the Port finished one though. I started drinking whisky last year after sampling some in shop in Notts (Gauntleys, great place, highly recommended). I went in to get a nice bottle of bourbon to take to a party and they gave me a great recommendation. Since then I've been trying as many as I can to try and find a favourite so this thread will be giving me more to try now. I blame you all in advance for my hangover :D Title: Re: Favourite whisky Post by: booder on May 24, 2006, 01:49:47 PM whisky galore..............
