The Brazilian who cost Real Betis £21.5 in 1998 when he was a young kid.

obviously the talent expected did not materialise then, otherwise he would not be thinking of joining these two teams  ;goodvevil;

He's currently playing for Bordeaux.

Also, Spurs are trying to buy Carlton Cole.

Wasted at Chelsea, when I first saw him play, I thought it would be him and Rooney leading Englands line for this World Cup. I honestly thought that he would take Owens place.

I hope we can get the best out of him.

Bye Mido

Hi Rod, cost 21.5M in 1998 when a young kid, if he was any good he would cost more = Spurs and Celtic could not afford him = not improved

I agree with you Dewi.

Dunno Dewi - I saw him in a Betis game while on holiday a while back - stick out best player & amazing skills. Think he made a bad move to Betis (competing for nothing).

Diid very well at Bordeaux on loan in his last chance saloon, now on a free as his Betis deal is finally done - last chance to show what he can do he's well worth a shot.

Suppose he'd rather play in the CL for a big club - so if Nakamura decides to leave Celtic - he'd be a good replacement.

I knew you had to get that one in!

I am surprised he would consider either club.

And no nothing to do with rep or status, but both managers are probably a couple of the hardest task masters managing in UK, I can't imagine either of them would let him get away with his lazy arse antics that he has displayed for about the last 6 or so years.

I think it would be a wake up call for him to go to either - which just might be what he needs.

Rod, If he was any good,( TBH dont know enough about him) all the big teams would be after him, either he's no good, or very good and/or too much trouble.

 :)up Wouldn't want to disappoint ;)

Nakor - I'm hoping it's a case of a player who has been stuck at a club on a long contract, where his talent hasn't been matched by the team/setup, but whose bosses can't let him go in case of fan revolt. They finally loaned him out for the past season & he was reportedly one of the stars for Les Girondins in their best season for a few years (earning a place in the CL group stages). Now he's got one more move & needs a place to put in the graft & get the recognition he's skilled enough to earn.

So yes - a manager who will demand off him would be a good move. On his game he could grace any of te teams in the SPL or EPL.

As I said above - very good - but stuck at a team on an immense contract that he couldn't get out of. His reputations dropped - not being at a challenging team will do it, but he was adored by Betis & impressed last year.

Celtic signed a guy no-one was chasing a few years back in Lubo - who had previously been voted best foreigner in french football - he made a bad choice of move (St Ettienne instead of Monaco) and dropped off the radar - he turned out to be one of the most skilled players I'd ever seen. These players do occur & big clibs miss them at times (Henrik Larsson being another),

I don't know that he'd be a good signing, but for now he'sa well worth a shot (and would be by a lot of bigger clubs).

Could you imagine him tyring to get motivated to play for greeen and white of Celtic, if he couldn't get motivated to play forgreen and white of Real Betis? ;goodvevil;

There is nothing wrong with Denilson's talent he's just lazy in the Ginola mould.

In 2002 big Phil played Juninho Paulista instead (the Middlesboro one) beacuse defensively Denilson was just too lazy. He'd often come on at 3 or 4 up to run it to the corner flags but apart from that they didn't use him.

Under a decent manager in the Ferguson/Benitez/O'Neill mould he'd be great to watch.
