Title: Flopping the nuts Post by: stallyon on May 26, 2006, 05:30:24 PM Ok, heres the situation - your hole cards are soemthing like 2s 4c or 6c 8h and someone raises you before the flop by 4x 5x 6x the big blind....you look at your hand and know your behind at this point...so you fold but someone else calls only for the flop to give you a straight or full house...you kick yourself for folding the hand in the first place but was it a good fold? if someone raises and you dont really have the chips to call then is this a good fold with unlucky flop? i get very frustrated at this point but still think to myself that i was right to do so....if i had plenty of chips to play with then i might consider a look at the flop tho...
thoughts please? Title: Re: Flopping the nuts Post by: thetank on May 26, 2006, 05:37:37 PM If some bugger raises, and that raise consists of much more than 5% of your stack, it's usually incorrect to call with pisch.
If your opponent is the type who bluffs too much and/or can't lay down a hand, be more inclined to make these loose pre-flop calls. There's a good discussion of playing junk somewhere around here. Maybe someone with a better memory of that thread can provide a link. You can win big cash game pots with these hands, you can also fritter away an evening, and a few buy-ins, seeing flops. Occasionally even 72o flops a full house or quads. I will play any hand but always look for reasons other than my actual cards as to wether to continue. Also if this is online then because of the rng if you called then the flop would have been different. Always helps me to remember that!
