Although I can't be there Tikay will be phoning and texting in updates so I will try to keep you as informed as possible.

Update from Tikay - he is down to 33k after laying fown 3 raises.  He was behind each time, JQ to JJ, AQ to AK and A9 to AA.

Stealing well now though - still 15 left

The blinds have just jumped to 2k 4k

A deal has now been done for 11th to 15th to get 1,750

Hmm, who is Stuart Nash? played with a Stuart yesterday, grey hair, very good and agressive player, could it be him?

I went out early yesterday!!  Great cards, but could not win with them!! wont go into the bad beats, but I will be back for the smaller comps, perhaps on Sunday :)

which event is his playing next?

Seems a shame that these 1k buy in affairs usually end up being crapshoots. Which method do you all prefer? Sit and wait for a hand or go into hyperraise mode and hope that when you get called you get lucky? I always tend to get very aggresive at this stage because if you wait too long you usually get sheriffed by a big stack when you eventually find a hand. Thoughts please.....

If I'm not charlie bigstack and in the last 15 and it's a crapshoot I've tended to sit and wait for a genuine hand for as long as possible until I reach 6-8bb (below 6-8bb and it's just take a shot time)...using the theory that others will panic before you and you can limp into the /final table. I don't think this strategy is optimal from a  making perspective though so in future I intend to go for it earlier and use the attitude that two double ups will lead to a big payday and there are so many comps of this size these days that there's always another one around the corner.

Can you find out a chip count for Jim Kerrigan for me please.

Well when crapshoot comes it depends on a lot of factors.

The most important being table position.  if you want to steal, the best time is generally to be on or close to the botton.  I tend to push With A7+ pocket pairs and Kq-KJ. This may change though depending on a variety of factors including the type of player you are stealing from, if they are tight or loose, as well as your own table image.  If your table image is tight you can steal a lot more.  Just make sure you dont show your shit cards to wind people up.

As long as a huge stack is not on bb, sometimes a min raise utg looks like a monster and it is folded around.

Another equally important condition is your chip stack.  If you are huge chip stack leader and approaching the bubble raise a lot as people play scared on the bubble.

Never be afraid to push against the big stack, he does not want to double you up as much as you dont want to go out.

As regards to calling,  you have to be tighter than you would be to pushing.  I often Fold KQs (infact I never even play this hand in a tourny except when sh or stealing) to a push, simply because it is a little behind to hands which are likely to push, including A2 etc, or a big dog when they actually have a hand.

Sonny has a nice suede windcheater on. Micky a blue short sleeved shirt & those trademark rose-tinted specs. John Gale is in his customary PokerStars shirt, a white one today.

Amar has a sort of lilacy bluey purpley shirt, and Jim Britton a white polo shirt.

Micky Wernick, in the SB, Raises 26k, that pot commits him. Jim Britton, in the BB, agonises, basically both players will be all-in if this pot plays, as Jim will have to move in for a liittle more.

I played good, as well as I can, but it was not meant to be. Yesterday all my hands held up, & I always found an opponent with a marginally smaller, but unputdownable, hand.

Today, not quite the opposite, as I managed to get away fom several hands, but yesterday's good fortune was reversed. No complaints from the ol fella.

Sonny now moves in for 115k, Jim Kerrigan gives it some thought before passing A-2. I am sat in the corner of the room & Jim is letting me see his hole  cards, but don't tell anyone.

Turn is the A diamonds. Jim checks, Sonny bets 20k, Jim instantly RR'd 80k, Sonny passed PDQ, after taking a sneaky look to see if, by chance, he had some of that board.....

And heres a hand......

Sonny in all-in against Amar Nice Man, Sonny shows A-3, Amar 4-4. First card down is a 4, & so is the last card - Amar hits four fours!!

Sonny is OUT in third.

Business is being discussed, BUT.....

Both players have been told they CANNOT discuss or do deals, however, "they may pop outside for a few minutes and chat"......(I'm just telling you the facts, before you start!).

Jim seems to have around 425k, & Amar 355k. Ish.

The deal is complicated, because 19th & 20th were both given 1k "off the top", and 15th to 11th were all given an extra 750 "off the top".

By the way, these "off the top" amounts have NOT been paid yet - NONE of them. As The Casino does NOT recognize deals, the "off the top" money cannot be paid until the winner collects his first prize, THEN he pays out this line of losers (that includes me) who have had a bit off the top.

And the deal is done, they both take 40k, and are now playing for 5k, & the Trophy, presumably.

And then a moment of surreal irony. The TD says "Gentleman, as a deal has been done, we are reducing the clock to 10 minutes". Guess they must recognize deals NOW........

Tikay told u were unlucy with the KQ worked ok for Mr Nice Man, whilst theres a lull in proceedings though, have you noticed the CPC final on tonite, could be good value as there have only been 3 sats and only 5 entered so far 1 seat guaranteed.

so how does these deals affect ranking points

the off the top dont make a difference as they are pre final table i presume?

so they all get there normal ranking points apart from the winner who gets 2nd?

Amar's KQ. Wow! He had some backbone to call with that, eh? I moved in with it, & missed. Mr Nice Maqn called with it & hit. That's poker, good luck to him.

Jim is well handy for me, as he keeps his chips stacks in nice multiples of 100k, or 10's or 20's, so it's easy to count them. Mr Nice Man keeps them all higgly piggly.

I prefer to keep them nice and neat, usually two stacks, sometimes more. Well, when I say "stack", I mean one. Chip, that is.

Ironside - CORRECT. Both players get "2nd place" Ranking Points.

Blinds are now 10k - 20k.

Mr Nice Man just bet 20k on the end, Jim K called. Amar had A high, Jim had K high.....!

So, as this comp peters out to an anti-climactic close, big thanks to Grosvenor Casinos, & to The Management at The Vic, for allowing these Updates. The Managers at The Vic keep saying I never mention them on thre TV show, so I've promised I will this week (tomorrow). Hehe,  they'd better be careful what they wish for.....

I gather Amar Nice Man won a comp at Gutshot last week.

When play ceased at 0400 today, I mentioned I had to drive home to The Midlands to feed my cats. Brian said "are they the same size, or is there a big one & a  small one?". I said yea, a big young one, and the old one, who's very small.

So he said "well you don't need to go home. If the big cat gets hungry, let it eat the small cat. Both problems solved then".

Charlie - the small, old one, did NOT approve when I told her.

It's over. Jim had AK, & Amar Nice Man has K-J - and the J fell!

So Amar is our winner - congrats fella. Now, about my 750........
