Title: World Cup Top Goalscorer
Post by: Triple X on June 02, 2006, 01:46:39 PM
Am i right in presuming if you have more than 1 top goalscorer (i.e 3 players tied on say 6 goals) the bookies pay out in full on them all?

If so - i think this market may have a lot of value....

Personally, i know he isnt much cop (but the top goalscorers never tend to be the obvious ones e.g. Baros etc) but i fancy a flutter on Pauletta at 28/1.  Portugal have a very easy group stage and he has an excellent internatinal goalscoring record (think he has 41 goals)

Other than that i think Klose and the German wonderkid Podolski are worth a flutter as they too have an easy group

Would probably stay clear of the faves like Henry and the three brazilians...

But Toni's record over the last year has been also very mpressive

Any other thoughts?

No - bookies will pay out on a three way dead heat for the win only part of the bet: If there are 3 all tied then you will get a third of your original stake at the full odds.

If you backed your selection each way then they will pay the place part of your bet at full odds as your selection has finished in the top 3 and there is no each way tie for 3rd.

i think henry is a good bet, currently 14 on betfair.

im not saying this because im an  arsenal fan but they have togo, switzerland and S korea in their group, he could get 4 against them

Owen, Ronaldo or Van Nisselroy....

but if looking for something worth winning I say Klose but the home advantage would have to work well to play enough games!

i am on borgetty of mexico 66/1 ew but as long as england win it and crouch scores the winning goal in the final that should win me my bet on crouch to be bbc sports personality at 200/1.

Klose wont even be Germanys leading scorer- podolski will be- I think hes a good bet- I also thought Luca toni as hes been sensational this year but it seems as if Italy prefer Gilardino even though Luca toni is the first player to score more than 30 goals in serie A in something like 40 years(looks as tho he going to be on bench tho) Henry is my favourite tho as they have easiest group and think he'll score 4 or 5 in group stage alone, david villa as an outside bet is good value and maybe gerrard since he's taking Rooneys role

Ronaldo for me.

Easy group plus I was on him in the last WC at a 14/1 (he was carrying an injury) & he came up trumps.

luca toni at 18/1 is a quality bet imo

Although I never stuck him in my dream team I am on for a £20 e/w at 66/1

I think its definately worth shoppinga round some of the bookies are doing really good special value bets and I have been looking at a few independents to see what they have been doinga nd some good value bets there.

Ronaldo for me.

I heard he's fatter than Gasgoine.

Still think the best striker in Europe is Shevchenko.

He's in a group with Tunisia and Saudi Arabia. Got to fancy
him there.

Seems to priced between 20 and 25-1 by most bookies.
Good each way value I think at least

Good start for Klose... not that I took my own advice and backed him!

Landon Donovan is the all-time leader in a-ssists for the US of A's soccer team.

Ryan Chiang rooms with Donovan on the road. There's a good chance we could see some scores from him over in Europe this summer.

Tough one to call

Klose has 2 but may now be rested in Germany's final group game as they have all but won it
Villa has a couple for Spain but if they get through then it looks like France in the 2nd round and Brazil in the QF's
Even though he drew a blank im going for Italy's Toni as that was by far their toughest game and with 2 "easier" games and a very nice prospective passage through to the semis he could be value.

Playing France and Brazil wouldn't worry me if I was Spanish. Not yet anyway.

I had a nice little bet on David Villa top scorer back in April

£5 @ 250/1, he was injured at the time, broke his foot i think so he was doubtful but i looked at spains group and had to back all the spain strikers.

they are likely to score 10+ in the group stage with their group so lets keep our fingers crossed, go Villaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
