The Vapors

I am more open then most to any music - but Coldplay and U2 are too much for me. But Frank, Vapours, Specials, DMR I applaud you. (In fact I will listen to The Specials album now, Saturday Night - great tune. And yes I have everyone of those tunes except U2, but thankfully no children) Print that list and in 5 or so years I imagine you may well get the last laugh. Title: Re: Cruel Kids and my MP3 Player Post by: Sark79 on June 02, 2006, 07:43:02 PM Cue said "almost" 14 year old rolling around on the floor wetting himself laughing and calling me a sad old man !!! Comments like this worry me. I am 26, but I really like that play list, especially Frank Sinatra. I might be turning into a premature old man like you Kev. Kev, do you have carpet slippers, a pipe and a flat cap? I saw Dexy's at what was the Top Rank suite in Brighton before they were anybody and one of the best concerts I have been to. Went staright out and bought a donkey jacket and wooly hat. :D
Funnily enough Kevin Rowland lives in Brighton and I bumped in to him the other day. Straighten Up and Fly Right, Let There Be Love, Smile. He has so many great songs.
Title: Re: Cruel Kids and my MP3 Player Post by: Nakor on June 02, 2006, 08:23:03 PM Nat King Cole is great as well. Straighten Up and Fly Right, Let There Be Love, Smile. He has so many great songs. I am currently busy collecting some old Nat King Cole stuff, not singing so much but some brilliant Jazz piano when he played with Oscar Moore - amazing sounds from the late 30's. Well worth looking up IMO. Title: Re: Cruel Kids and my MP3 Player Post by: Sark79 on June 02, 2006, 08:31:36 PM What's the story behind him starting to sing? I have heard that the regular singer didn't turn up and he stood in for him. He was the piano player of the group at that time. Is that true?
He is a brilliant singer. Him and Frank Sinatra have a really easy way of singing. It doesn't seem any effort at all. When you compare them to some of the singers on top of the pops these days, it just shows how talented they were. I hate it when singers like Robbie Williams try to sing their songs. I know Michael Jackson comes in for a bit of slagging these days, but he is a really good singer. Songs like Heal the World and Dirty Diana show this. To be honest, I am an Eddie Vedder fan when it comes to singing. But M.Jackson does have talent.

Title: Re: Cruel Kids and my MP3 Player Post by: Nakor on June 02, 2006, 11:23:04 PM Almost Sark - its a pretend festival with loads of city types in inappropriate clothes moan about walking, prices, queues, bad beer, poor sound, bad bands - usually with comments like 'I saw Robbie at the forum' or old crustys (like me) sit around, moaning about the above, pi**ed on cider, complaining that its not like Mendip . . . . . . . . I hate Glastonbury fallow years - its just not fair.
