Title: what the flying **** do you do? Post by: temp0r on June 03, 2006, 02:12:29 AM tonight's deep stacker tourney on 888.com. 144 started. 30+3 buy-in.
just got down to heads up. 646=2nd / 1166=1st. alan360 has $309600 temp0r has $185400 blinds 3000/6000 i'm BB. very first hand of heads up i'm dealtĀ Ts Ahrt alan360 raises to 138000. at this point i'm a little confused. he's bullied the whole final table very effectively. but what kinda bet IS that? whats your move? i was abit trigger happy and decided to go all-in. result later... Title: Re: what the flying :) do you do? Post by: thetank on June 03, 2006, 02:24:23 AM Not much point in an all-in here, as there is a 0% (to 2 decimal places) chance of him folding to it.
If I'm going to play the hand, I flat call and push on any flop as there's a (very slim) chance of him folding on the flop. Slim is better than none. Title: Re: what the flying **** do you do? Post by: BigTomatoes on June 03, 2006, 02:43:40 AM i would go all in
looks like a steal to me and A 10 is as good as any to take him up on a gamble with Title: Re: what the flying :) do you do? Post by: thetank on June 03, 2006, 02:49:33 AM But even if he's on a steal with just the 2d and Mr Bun the Baker, he will still call the all-in.
Title: Re: what the flying :) do you do? Post by: thetank on June 03, 2006, 02:50:36 AM result later... If he folded, I'm going to look mighty silly :D Title: Re: what the flying **** do you do? Post by: ifm on June 03, 2006, 02:53:31 AM INCOMING badly diguised bad beat story.

Title: Re: what the flying **** do you do? Post by: LeKnave on June 03, 2006, 05:23:18 PM I think if you believe u are the better player you still have plenty of time with blinds at 3000/6000 to out play him and there is no need to risk the HU at this stage. On the other hand if you believe ul need a bit of luck to win it you could try gambling at this early stage to cut a long HU short.

Ts Ahrt is a good hand, but what's the hurry? I would say wait for a better chance to put your tournment on the line. I might be saying this as I cannot win any coin flips at the moment. :D Title: Re: what the flying **** do you do? Post by: temp0r on June 03, 2006, 10:02:40 PM why the hell does everyone assume its a bad beat story?
and why do people seem to think i don't realise he's going to call the all-in? really now.. anyway the overiding opinion is that i was far too quick to go all-in and hadn't really taken everything into account. as it happens A/10 was the biggest starting hand i'd seen the whole of the final table. i'd be re-raising all-in with fuck all at the slightest sign of weakness to stay in there and bully a fair bit the tighter players. i guess having found nothing else for an hour i figured now was the time to push. he flipped over jacks. they held up. lesson learnt: ALWAYS ACCESS THE SITUATION COMPLETELY BEFORE GETTING INVOLVED. i think with a 20 second clock i'd of probably folded. it was only after the hand i'd noticed the amount of play possible in the heads up match. i needed to adjust from having so few BB to so many all of a sudden before playing the hand. and i failed to do this. i'd never lost a heads up fight at the end of a multitable before. so I was pretty damn pissed despite the nice cash prize. Thats a no brainer fold for me, if you think this guy can play a bit, then i'd expect a big hand. The beauty of the move is that noone thinks you'd play anything good in that manner. When i played i used to play 15 minutes worth of hands in the exact opposite way to which my initial thought told me to. This lead to some interesting situations. People suspect something, but they just cannot believe their instinct, why on earth would he make a bet that looks like he wants to take the pot down if he has such a strong hand etc. If you struggle to get the courage to make a bluff, draw two aces on a post it note and stick them over your real hand and play it blind. It really is astonishing how strong positive play along with positive attitude looks on the table. Its probably the oldest cliche in poker "It isn't what you've got, it's what they think you've got". |
