Title: Whats your move? Post by: bobby1 on June 06, 2006, 01:28:11 AM 7 handed MTT 90k in chips at the table and nice 30 minute levels.
I have 12k with blinds 400 800 and raise to 2400 with JJ in second position. The BB who is fairly tight and has 10.4k including big blind looks like he is contemplating a call but then reraises me 4k, leaving himself 4k behind. Whats your move? Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: Gamblor21 on June 06, 2006, 02:55:53 AM seems like a want action bet bobby... i pass with your chips! more or less chips i call.
Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: bobby1 on June 06, 2006, 05:47:11 AM Anyone else any thoughts?
This was a live game and this hand prompted much discussion. Thanks Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: bolt pp on June 06, 2006, 07:20:02 AM I fold here.
7 handed he may have ak, but your going in a 3-4% jolly at best or a massive rag. Its easy to get away from with your stack especially against a tight player thats virtually commiting his stack. Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: Royal Flush on June 06, 2006, 08:53:02 AM I am shipping it in....gamboooooool
Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: Horneris on June 06, 2006, 08:57:55 AM You should fold here and wait for a better position. At first i read this wrong and thought youd said you had 90k in chips, but that was for the enitire table.
The logic move has to be to fold and wait for a better spot. The best you could dget was for him to hold AK or AQ and even then you're not a huge favourite, and he is much more likely to hold AA, KK or QQ Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: SupaMonkey on June 06, 2006, 10:35:09 AM I would have thought A-K/A-Q would have moved in preflop.
Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: marcro on June 06, 2006, 10:47:17 AM After this raise his next move is going to be all in no matter what you do. It sounds like he wanted extra action. You can fold and still have enough chips to play. In the best scenario, you are most likely facing two overcards - time to make an emotional decision to race and shove all your chips in or fold. Logic says fold.
Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: Junior Senior on June 06, 2006, 02:16:42 PM fold.
he must be putting you on something decent with you raising from 2nd position and his micro reraise suggests he wants to give you chance to push and thus hang yourself. - he aint making that move with 10-10 is he?! - and with AK i reckon he pushes and hopes here. fold but make sure you stare at him like he killed a relative and you want vengance! :-) Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: stallyon on June 06, 2006, 02:21:50 PM push all-in. he may be on a total bluff while still leaving himself some chips to play with in case you come over him
Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: bobby1 on June 06, 2006, 03:15:32 PM Thanks for the replies guys.
IF I told you the other guy had AJ what would you think of his play and how do you think he saw the hand? Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: bolt pp on June 06, 2006, 03:22:15 PM Then he's played it horribly IMO.
unless he thinks hes got a massive tell on you! Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: Junior Senior on June 06, 2006, 04:50:28 PM then you have been at-it all comp and he wants to reraise for info - finding out whether you actually have a hand or not. - against an at-it merchant who will lay down against resistance then its not a bad play really, although i would want more chips to make this play

IF I told you the other guy had AJ what would you think of his play and how do you think he saw the hand? He was thinking any two cards can win, I will spike an A on the river and say "good game fella!" Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: bobby1 on June 06, 2006, 11:09:04 PM then you have been at-it all comp and he wants to reraise for info - finding out whether you actually have a hand or not. - against an at-it merchant who will lay down against resistance then its not a bad play really, although i would want more chips to make this play wow....you werent even there and you can still read me. :D It was a comp with mates and the guy doing the reraising then took great delight in taking the ****. I couldnt see what hand he would want to reraise with that he would leave 4k behind from a stack of 10k. I laid down my hand which I suppose means its a very good bet but I am not sure his reasoning was' i will min raise here and get him to pass'. After a good discussion it became clear it was a 'I have two big cards so I will raise here' and as an average player he made imho a play so poor it became great. Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: M3boy on June 09, 2006, 01:28:35 AM All in or fold.
His re raise of that amount screams he wants action to me and I would fold. He did indeed play it horribly BTW Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: BigTomatoes on June 09, 2006, 05:44:58 AM yeah hes the one whos made a bad play here, youve made a pretty good fold under the circumstances, giving yourelf a chance to stay in and go on in the game. it is unfortunate you had to give this guy respect for his re raise, to me it is pretty much saying i have AA or KK. what do u think was going through his mind? i doubt he was thinking i can make him lay down a pair of JJ here if i stick in a fishy min raise. no . but at least u get some info on this guy and hopefully it came in useful later in the game. Title: Re: Whats your move? Post by: Royal Flush on June 09, 2006, 08:03:20 AM Since when was it a min raise!! He re-raised 4k, the min raise is 1600, he has raise 2.5x min.
bobby, you had been quite active, i like this raise with AJ. If i am playing AJ here why would i stick it all in? Forget that i make a small suspect raise and leave myself another bullet to fire on the flop. |
