Tony G is a prat if you ask me. No class.  He may be a good player, but I don't think a true star like Phil Ivey would do that.

He's a complete .....  but you have to admit it's quite good viewing. I can't beleive that between all those intelligent blokes not one can muster any sort of defence or comeback to him.

Come on, thats a bit harsh.

Hes lagging and he got a bit lairy, if youve never got drunk and made a fool of yourself then you should because its just not normal otherwise.

even if he wasnt drunk i believe that for the type of money hes playing for,  the amount hes staked to enter, and the availibilty it affords him to provide a better life for his family he is more than justified in trash talking anyone he likes.

What about the 'celeb' 'poker' tourney where Major Charles Ingram accidentally showed both his cards, turned them back over and bluffed all in?

My view is, whether under the influence of alcohol or not, the behaviour by Tony G to his fellow players is simply unacceptable.

"i'm telling my mum"

"i'm taking my ball back"

"i'm not playing with you anymore"

I did'nt hear surindar say any of these things, you know why?  because he's a big boy now!

Or maybe he is just somebody who behaves in a socially acceptable manner?  I guess one is measured by the standards one sets for themselves.

Yep - that'll excuse everything Tony G does.... because they're both big boys.  ::) What if Surinder just lamped him? Is that OK? Tony G's a big boy after all.

Firstly let me say that i watched this game in its entirety and tony g always made sure that he said to every departing player" everything ive said was just for poker, no disrespect inteded".

secondly all the trash talk that goes on during a football match far outways that of tony gs drunken outburst, but its over looked. the same goes for boxing.

I think that it was a great performance.

What he did was within the rules, end of.

If you want to talk about about a lack of respect for your opponents look no further than the football superstars that you all adore.

Constantly falling about like little school girls screaming to the ref about how the other guy should be sent off, DISGUSTING.

Tong g the jet setting multi millionare poker superstar really sounds like a pratt dosnt he.

How can you formulate such a derogatory opinion of not only someone that you've never met but from only 1 or 2 incedents of gamesmanship that for the amounts of money involved were completely justified.

I wonder if he even had to make a concious decision between securing first place and all that that entailed or not irritating his opponent...........erm.............NO!!

I think he's a disgrace and I'd combat my tilt by calling him every name under the sun... I'd really like to see how he took personal and unacceptable abuse - he could afterall have absolutely no case against people doing it. Morally would it be right? No, but in this case fighting fire with fire outweights two wrongs not making a right!

He's a professional poker player, do you understand what that entails?

Hes not an art dealer!! dont worry about him he expects a little bit of bunny in a heads up match worth so much

You lot are jokers, have you ever been out of your houses?

ITS A SCARY WORLD!!!!!!!OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Watch out, someone might approach you and say "youll never want to play poker with me again"  JUST TERRIFYING!!!!!!!!!!

So a footballer's disgraceful behaviour while trying to win is wrong, but Tony's is right? Err OK?

Also - to use Surinder as an example - he didn't have to be abusive, or ungentlemanly to try and win. To be honest I'd rather lose than indulge in that nonsense.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

If its only for as long as the touney no probs

Also i would like to say that there was a point to tony gs antics, to tilt surindar and clinch the victory for himself.

If you didnt care about the game and i thought it was something that had nothing to do with poker that something different

Maybe I am just old fashioned, but I prefer good mannered people rather than loud mouths.  At the end of the day, it is the players reputation that is as important as the money they play for.

Twenty years from now if Tony G has retired ( not sure if a poker player ever really retires ) the records will show that he won a WPT title and numerous other things. But it will have written beside his biog " He was a rude and disliked player by many of his peers".

I would prefer to have a reputation like Howard Lederer, Negreanu or Ivey. They are every bit as talented as the Tony G's of this world, but they do it in a calm and respectful way.

Obviously i am not going to but i bet it would get to you just as much as the next man if you were at the table, it's a matter of respect and manners which to us genteel englishmen is very important. ;D

I'm all for gamesmanship but being a .... is just rude imo.

I saw marcel luske use some gamesmanship in monte carlo and it was just as powerful but so much more sophisticated as he carefully and leisurely prepared his cup of tea while mateyboy consider the all in raise, mateyboy folded the best hand in the end and it was great to watch.

He also showed a lack of skill and judgement at the end of the tournament by just moving all in everyhand.

Tony G was on a shameless self promotion trip and to that extent it worked because we are talking about him now.

I couldnt help smiling at the trip 3s.

The way he played it was awsome, but even though his reaction may have been considered as a bit naughty i was just loving it ;ifm;

He showed passion, that cant be bad!
