Title: O/T Calling an Isle of Wight blonde for help Post by: SimonH on June 08, 2006, 09:01:10 PM Off to IOW tomorrow for the festy and the buggers have decided not to show the England v Paraguay game on the Saturday. The organisers rather weak argument is "well they won't be showing our festival at the world cup, will they?" Anyway, Newport FC have offered a slither of hope by erecting a giant screen at their ground and allowing 8,000 fans in to watch. There will be around 60,000 people at the festival, and assuming at least 20,000 of them will want to watch the game there will possibly be major trouble to gain access. So if a blonde with knowledge of the IOW could offer the quickest route from festival to Newport FC (preferebly on foot) I would be most grateful. I've tried to find out for my self on google, but I can't dig up any postcodes to enter in routefinder. All I know is the festival is at Sea Close Park and the football club is at St George's Park (very aptly named). Help!! :dontask: Title: Re: O/T Calling an Isle of Wight blonde for help Post by: Royal Flush on June 08, 2006, 09:13:32 PM No pubs on the Island?
Title: Re: O/T Calling an Isle of Wight blonde for help Post by: Ginger on June 08, 2006, 09:14:35 PM Easy as pie to get to the footy ground, get onto the main road from Seaclose Park and head towards Newport, once at the huge roundabout (Coppins Bridge) follow the road between the cinema and the car park that sits slightly on a embankment. Keep going along this road till you reach another roundabout (only a few mins walk) take the first exit off this roundabout (there are only 2) and you should see the footy ground only a few hundred meters up the road.
The whole walk should only take about 30 mins tops. Alternatively, The Vine on Newport High street is sure to be showing it also, ask any local and they will point it out to you (off Copping Bridge also) P.S, green with envy about the fessie, wish I had tickets!!! Have a great time! A bit of a map to give you an idea of where you are headed, Seaclose is around where the "90" is on the map, and the Footy ground is near the "R" of Roman Villa. |
