Title: Why do they (Hanson in particular) insist on calling the Croats Post by: Karabiner on June 13, 2006, 08:51:39 PM Croatians ???
It's Croats ffs, and yes I am angry, I've backed them to draw or win :tikay: Title: Re: Why do they (Hanson in particular) insist on calling the Croats Post by: TightEnd on June 13, 2006, 08:58:56 PM I think Alan may be correct
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatians according to this Croatians come from Croatia, whereas to be a Croat is to belong to an ethnic group. So technically we are talking about a team of Croatians. I think. Brazil meanwhile have been unimpressive, but backing against them was certainly brave. Good luck. I wish I had a character that didn't need to have questions like this resolved in my mind ;tk; Title: Re: Why do they (Hanson in particular) insist on calling the Croats Post by: Ironside on June 13, 2006, 09:03:16 PM tightend is correct
you do not need to be a croat to play for croatia but you need to be croatian Title: Re: Why do they (Hanson in particular) insist on calling the Croats Post by: Karabiner on June 13, 2006, 09:14:23 PM tightend is correct you do not need to be a croat to play for croatia but you need to be croatian I believe a Croat would not be pleased to be called a "Croatian" which I believe to be an anglicisation (if you know what I mean).i.e a made up word. Then again I think we were all a tad to wasted to care.
Great night out with some mad fans, most of them from their army. Still not sure my liver has recovered :) Title: Re: Why do they (Hanson in particular) insist on calling the Croats Post by: thetank on June 13, 2006, 09:40:22 PM I am a Brit, but not really bothered if someone calls me British.
Swede/Swedish, Scot/Scottish etc etc Maybe not the same thing, I dunno :dontask: If I were a Croat (or a Croatian for that matter) I'd be more concerned that my nations debt had risen by 13% last year (to 26 billion Euros) Croatia is ranked as one of the World's most highly indebted countries by the World Bank. If they don't do something about that, Croatia could become categorized as a "high-risk" state. This would cause available credit lines to decrease, interest rates to rise and just generally a bit of a bad-ass financial crisis.
