If Argentina, Brazil or Germany win this years world cup, do they keep the trophy and  a new world cup trophy will be made?

They are going about it the wrong way - they are peaking too early by winning playing attractive attacking football.

They want to be playing badly and winning!!!  ;goodvevil;

We would meet them in the quarter finals if we top our group and they came 2nd in theirs or if it was the other way round they top their group and we come second in ours.

If we don't lose to Sweden it could be a case of Germany in the final 16, Holland in the quarters, Brazil in the semis and Aregentina in the final.

Well one can dream :)

I can't see England beating Germany, Holland, Brazil or Argentina.

They could beat Holland, I'm not too impressed by the Dutch this year.

Thereafter, anything could happen in 90 minutes of football. I'm concerned that you're four games away from winning the thing.

Mind you, if Jane Goody was on Who wants to be a Millionaire, and I was forking out the cash. I'd be concerned she was 15 qustions away from winning a cool mill, but not that concerned.

It's the same sort of level of worry.

Germany are shocking defensively and Brazil look rubbish.

I'd be more worried about Czech Republic, Italy and Argentina.

Well Brazil have only played 1 game and they looked a lot sharper when Ronaldo came off.

Germany have less worries than England....

I can't help but remember the radio 5 live world cup trailer when some expert states that England could meet Germany in the second round and hardly ever has the host nation exited at this stage. Depending on the Ecuador and Germany result it might be an idea to chuck the Sweden game and finish runners up, then again we might not even have that option the way we have played so far.

I recall 1990 world cup and how things, with a little luck came could in the knockout stages. First there was the late goal in extra time against Belguim just as it looked like going to penalities. Then in the quarter final we got 2 penalities which Sir Gary scored when we were 2-1 down to Cameroon. In the knockout stages anything can happen with a bit of luck and at least we still have a chance. There are numerous countries who would gladly be in our position. However remote a chance we have there is still the chance it might just come good. :)

True - they couldnt look worse though could they?

I'd rather be solid defensively in international comps. Look at Greece and the last European Cup.

England are far from solid at the back though! Although they have good players throughout the team something is clearly missing, even T+T were creating chances!

This is pretty obvious, T&T were defending with their whole team, rarely had less than 9 men in defence when england were in their half, they were creating chances through counter-attacks when england pushed virtually the whole team forward.

We wouldn't play that way because Germany wouldn't play us aiming for a draw/lucky countergoal.
Even if they did we wouldn't commit so many men forward for this exact reason.

Football365's headline was excellent for this match.
