Title: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: GlasgowBandit on June 17, 2006, 09:58:23 PM Have you ever heard so much piss spoken in 90 minutes of football commentary!!??
Pleat says "its a 4 - 2 - 3 for the USA" Really with 9 men?? Drury "Equalizer" when it was 1 - 1 surely another goal would have made it 2 -1? Pleat "Thats ironic the big centre half who made so many challeneges clearing the ball" Wheres the irony? Drury "Perrotta is still off the field its 9 versus 9" 20 seconds previously the cammera shows you Perrotta sprint back on Drury says "Ohh in fact Perrotta just hobbles back on" There are so many more instances of total piss talk!! Never have I heard such nonsense and England never even got a mention in it all, ITV really need to do something with their sports department. Bring back Big Ron!!! Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: Nem on June 17, 2006, 09:59:33 PM Drury getting it wrong with the equaliser says it all.
ITV= lame Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: TightEnd on June 17, 2006, 10:03:52 PM Peter Drury was a fantastic R5L radio commentator recruited by his former boss Brian Barwick when he was Head of Sport at ITV. He's far better on radio.
Pleat...no salvation whatsoever...a World cup or three too far for the back of Jaguar, brown shoes dancing at Man city past it football manager Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: turny on June 17, 2006, 10:13:11 PM david pleat must be the worst co-commentator or summariser on tv imo
Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: Nem on June 17, 2006, 10:14:33 PM Peter Drury was so bad, I thought it was Clive Tyldesley
Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: TightEnd on June 17, 2006, 10:19:37 PM Nothing is as bad as this
no nightmares now [attachment deleted by admin] Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: TightEnd on June 17, 2006, 10:20:53 PM and the worst collection of commentators/summarisers ever to grace a football website

Post by: turny on June 17, 2006, 10:37:05 PM why is it after years of watching sky do football so much better than them do bbc and itv still lag miles behind in the football coverage stakes?
Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: TightEnd on June 17, 2006, 10:41:02 PM Now personally whilst ITV are horrible I far prefer the bbc to sky...
sky too much hyperbole of a mediocre product andy gray...nah, terrible to listen to martin tyler..nah, terrible richard keys, horrific Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: turny on June 17, 2006, 10:43:50 PM andy gray is god!
i meant coverage in general, camera angles, speed of replays and summarising etc sky different gravy imo Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: TightEnd on June 17, 2006, 10:48:59 PM agreed on the sky production values
but of course itv and bbc are relying on German tv pictures, not a lot they can do about that! andy gray...agree to disagree! Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ I do somewhat agree with ITB, with all the camera angles, stats and info etc... But the above is to do with money, which the BBC haven't got. Even Steve Ryder has left the BBC for ITV! Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: TightEnd on June 17, 2006, 11:06:45 PM to be pedantic for a moment, Rider left for ITV because he runs a successsful motor racing company connected with F1. He left (even giving up his second love..Golf coverage) because the success of his company (management contracts for F1 personnel) required his presence on the F1 circuit
He actually hates football, look carefully when he anchors the coverage and even though he's a consummate professional you'll spot it! Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: The Baron on June 17, 2006, 11:58:22 PM Andy Gray is awful. Never heard such a biased commentator who overhypes and screams every single incident like Kennedy has been shot.
Tyler is average but has some fantastic shouts when he can be bothered. Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............ Post by: JungleCat03 on June 18, 2006, 03:32:50 AM David Pleat is the commentator's equivalent of scratching nails down a blackboard.
Something in his voice awakens in me primeval urges to hunt and kill. The sound track from his commentaries should be used by the armed forces before engaging in combat. The equalizer comment was embarrassing...Hang your heads in shame ITV. Title: Re: Peter Drury & David Pleat ............
