There maybe different rules in different places but I think the general idea is this. You, say, get 5000 chips and if you lose half or more of them you get another 5000. If you haven't taken the extra  by a certain period you get given them. In most cases you can take the second 5000 at the off and start with 10,000.

That is how I understand it.

The last Luton double freezeout which I played you couldn't take the second lot of chips until you had less than 50% of your starting stack.

Hi Rob
Double chance tourneys give you a choice. You are all given the starting chips ie 5000 at the last one I played in Newcastle then you can take a second load of a further 5000 chips anytime from the begining through till the end of the (normally ) second level. If you haven't taken the chips by then the second set of chips is given at that point.
I have never heard of a restriction ie 50% that sound more like rebuy rules..
Looking forward to Luton-- you coming up?

I can ensure you that the 50% rule was applied in the last Luton double freezeout because it was a last minute decision made by the card room after they consulted with the gaming authourity. This was the first time that they played the double freezeout format and many people asked what the rules were and when could they take the second lot of chips. The intial from the cardroom was that you could take them whenever but they stated they would have to check. It was only just prior to the start that they announanced that was the 50% rule just like a rebuy comp. I understand different casino's may have used different formats but Luton definantely used the 50% rule in it's first double freezeout comp.

I have used both double chance formats in Blackpool.

They both work well. The stipulation from the Gaming Board is that the rules of the Double Chance must be given out before the start of play, so that everyone is aware of which rules are being played. Best of luck to all in Luton this coming week.

this month the £300 at walsall is a double chance and you get the second lot of chips when you have lost 50% of your starting stack.
im not sure when you get the rest of the chips if you do not take them. do you get them??
