i posted some humouress adverts earlier today.as i can no longer find them i presume they have been removed even though they came with a warning not to view if you are easily offended.
if messers goering , model , and stalin would like to confirm this , i would appreciate it.

I did find some of the ad's funny, although some people may find them offensive, it was juvenille humour at its best, and the warning was noted before i viewed the thread, I dont believe any harm was done.  Hardly worth removing IMHO.

I would say they were more booderline than borderline. I found them very funny and feel it is a shame that a thread that clearly had a warning label on it had to be removed.

ok, the post concerned was a series of spoof ads.


Although I accept that boo posted a warning the subject matter included the following


*wife beating

*oral sex

*disabilities of older people

*poking fun at "pikeys"


Having now got the benefit of three other moderators opinions we are all of the view that the post is inappropriate. "some people may find it offensive" says newmanseye....yes, that makes the case reasonably enough.


I apologise to boo as he should have received a PM telling him what was happening. However its been a hectic afternoon for me and I didn't get round to it in time

I think poor Tighty's getting the shitty end of the stick because there are some serious concerns about what direction we may or may not be taking in the aftermath of the Inappropriate Jokes thread.

I think that WRT said aftermath, without an official 'party line' the jokes (which I've laughed at before) were a bit near the knuckle. I kind of expected them to go to be honest.

There's also the danger, while some people are a bit raw over all this, of some objections to make a point - which probably don't help anything - so fair enough Tighty.

Here's my take on it (do with it what you will).

Most of those were pretty funny. BUT, talking about domestic violence, using the word "Fuck"(one we are all pretty funny about generally), and taking the piss out of people with disabilities is not nice.

Pikey's is up for debate as far as I am concerned - it's useage has changed - it used to be a rather nasty slang for Gyspsy ( and i am sure it still is, in some places) - but it's has changed to mean chavs now, at least around here.

So the pikey comment kinda offended me (I am frm Gypsy stock), the domestic iolnce thread offended me greatly - you don't find stuff like that funny when your sister has been in a fixator ring for nearly 18 months because of domestic violence.

Ive had pm warnings from nearly every mod and if i was to break a "RULE" i'd be outta here.

Firstly, leave Tighty out of this, it's a collective decision.

He rung me about it, I was busy at the time, but I agreed with him "for the moment". He stuck it on the Mods Board, & I said (only he & I were on "duty" at the time) "I think we need a 3rd or 4th opinion on this".

I really don't know where it's gone from there, but I will do shortly.

But I can see that much of it would be offensive to many, & there was an abundance of profanities in it. And some of the remarks were just not acceptable on blonde.

Sorry - well no, not sorry really. There are plenty of places to see that sort of stuff, much of which I found hilarious, but I really don't want some of them on here.

As for Tighty, the harder he works - & he works as hard as anyone - the more grief he gets. Cut him some slack, please.

I know this might sound like I am sucking up :) but threads like this are getting really boring.

Why do people always want to push the rules or test mods interpretation of how the forums should be run?

If there is any doubt a user is about to post something that might offend anyone who uses the forums don't POST it.

As Heid stated people want this place to be friendly and drama free, you never know what personal experience's people have been through so always go with the safe option and go OUT of your way NOT to offend anyone.

i never intentionally offend anybody , but in this particular case i thought they would be OK..obviously i was wrong and i apologise....i did , however put the proviso...do not view if easily offended......tongue in cheek maybe after the latest debate....
so...if there is a warning...dont look at it...how simple is that..
if a tv programme is about to show scenes which are to be distressing they usually warn you....you have a choice , watch it or dont..its no good watching it , getting upset and then firing off a letter of complaint to auntie beeb

Tighty is a seriously good bloke though I wouldn't say it to his face. I personally do not agree with this "you can say what you like" nonsense. If it is offensive to others you are better off without it.

We are getting bigger & bigger, & it's becoming more & more difficult to retain our ideals. You just need to understand, & bear with us, while we work out the right way forward on a whole range of issues.

Tighty is getting it in the neck alnmost daily now, simply because he works very hard, & tries to follow what we've asked him to do. I support him 100%.

There is a deliciouis irony here in fact.

When Tighty became a Mod, he led the "we MUST have Rules" debate. I got all obdurate & would not give in - "I don't want rules here, I want guidelines & common-sense". (Which remains my view, by the way). Tighty's view was (is) "without rules, it makes it very tough to Moderate".

Now he's doing what he's been asked to do (by me) & he's still the villain of the peace.

He's been attacked recently in more quarters, by more people, than enough, & it's out of order. Yup, he's big & ugly & thick-skinned, but I can tell you, he's feels very "down" about it now.

It has been a rather serious forum over the last few days.  That's a shame and no one person is to blame.  To some extent we are all responsible. But in all honesty, I think if we get rules or don't get rules, people will still post what they want to post. 99% of the time when a borderline thread is started, the person doing so is not aware they have done anything wrong.  How can we have rules?  what will the rules say?.  It is impossible to get inside someones mind and change their thought processes to fall in line with the rules imposed on members.  However in saying this, I think rules will help matters. But maybe they won't.  Should we have rules. Yes I think we should. Actually no I don't. That is a bad idea.   

We want rules....   no we don't.    Yes we do....   no    no   no more rules...

How about we just send all our post over to a mod before hand, that way you can let us know if our post is up to scratch or not, hell you can even run a spell check for us too, that way everything will be all nice and pretty, all the bad words swapped and commas and full stops added. Before you know it we won’t need to post, you guys can do it for us.

What have I missed? nooooooooooooooo. This is why I believe in freedom of speach/ am in the ante censorship lobby. If someone is offended by something then don't read it- nobody holds a gun to your head and forces you to read every thread (especially one that has a warning offence maybe caused- why read it just to say "I am offended"). We are all adults on here (or should be as its a poker forum) so cant we make our own mind up on certain things?
