Title: Loophole ? Post by: Colchester Kev on August 08, 2005, 03:30:58 PM I recently posed a question in the LIVE UPDATES section.. regarding the 5k event at the vic.
Bearing in mind the ruling at the Vic for this comp was.. If you are not in your seat when first hand is dealt, you will be disqualified from the comp, your chips will be removed, and you will get your entry fee back. Now the question i asked was this... What is to stop an internet qualifier or sattellite winner who got in on the cheap, from deliberately missing the start and copping a 5k pay day ? after seeing that finishers 11-13 only got a payout eqivalent to a refund, an instant profit on a few hundred pounds investment seems like an easy decision. Any thoughts/answers as to why this hasnt been exploited ? Title: Re: Loophole ? As I understand it the site buys a block of seats, decides which sats to run etc and then provides casino with list of names for its block Title: Re: Loophole ? Post by: Bongo on August 08, 2005, 03:34:41 PM Maybe they wanted to play in the event for enjoyment/chance to score a bigger payday. Surely if they wanted 5k (over a seat) they'd play a tournament for a cash prize?

Imagine winning the seat online and turning up to find you are so nervous and feel completely out of your depth ... it must be tempting. Title: Re: Loophole ? Post by: TightEnd on August 08, 2005, 03:41:31 PM I know they do that for the payout, but the individual hasn't exactly paid the entry on his switch card now has he? they refund to the site
Title: Re: Loophole ? Post by: Colchester Kev on August 08, 2005, 03:45:36 PM Ok then so what about if you won a seat through a 200 sattellite in the casino ???
Title: Re: Loophole ? Post by: Colchester Kev on August 08, 2005, 03:47:07 PM And perhaps Jonathan or Ruru could answer the question with regard to Internet qualifiers ??
Title: Re: Loophole ? Post by: TightEnd on August 08, 2005, 03:47:56 PM that's different... ;D
To save us bickering ( :D) I'm sure AlrightJack or Bobby1 or someone can resolve this for us, otherwise I'm sure you have opened a can of worms!! Title: Re: Loophole ? Post by: dik9 on August 08, 2005, 04:16:32 PM Regarding casino's, in a satellite competition at our club, on the wall and on the entry table, we state that you are playing for a seat only, which is non transferable and non refundable. If for any reason you may not be able to make it please think twice before entry. If for ANY reason you are not in the building at the start of the competition, then you will forfeit your seat and all monies.
Maybe the internet qualifiers have some sort of small print? Title: Re: Loophole ? Post by: Sunday8pm on August 08, 2005, 06:49:14 PM im 99% sure if you qualify through the internet for a big seat, but then choose not to fill it the money gets returned to the internet site because obviously they send the payment of the entry fee direct to the casino/cardroom
Title: Re: Loophole ? Post by: BlueWolf on August 08, 2005, 09:53:10 PM As far as i know that if the internet qualifier fails to show the money stays in the pot as they are non refundable, the same applies to live qualifiers although if there are extreme circumstances why they can not appear then it CAN come down to the GM's discretion (although up here that means they just get it no matter what ,IMO wrong)
