Title: What is your least favourite NLHE starting hand?
Post by: TightEnd on August 09, 2005, 03:17:59 PM
Which two starting cards hold the most trepidation for you?

In other words I'm not interested in 2 4 off suit or other such easy folds (for most of us mere mortals)

After much thought I have decided upon AQ (just ahead of several others!!)....I raise and if I get re-raised it's usually a laydown and if I miss a flop I usually p*ss chips away firing bullets

Your thoughts please

ace 10, absolutely the worst hand in poker, it's a rag ace that most folks think is not ???

Jacks, I hate to be predictable (actually that's a lie, I don't mind), but there's so many ways to lose.

Im ok with JJ. as long as you play them as a middle pair.

A10/AJ for me

nothing good ever comes of it.

AKo - NEVER won a hand with it.

Not even keen on AK suited - won one showdown with it - always seem to get out-drawn :(

However last night my JJ stood up to AsKs - Flop Ac Kh Qd Turn 4s River J ;D deserved some luck (IMHO anyway).

After last night on UB QQ, especially if my oppnent has AQ... >:(

Usually JJ though. I get creamed by it so often and I rarely win with it.

I like KK  ;D  - certain players I know really hate it though.

Least favourite: J,T suited or not.  Never connects for me, ever.

See a 7,8,9 flop vrs me.  Rest assured I don't have J,T.

Will raise with it but shit myself if called & always fold to a reraise

too many players over-rate JJ and AK, therefore overplay it ITS TRUE! they expect them to hold up often....which they dont. If you want a tip limp with JJ unless in mid-late position its made me win more with jacks by a long way...it traps people with hands like AT and A9.

My worst hand? Gotta be A9, its basically ace-rag cost me too much from where people have also limped with AT or AJ

From genuine hands, probably those annoying middling pocket pairs like 9-9 and 10-10... never sure how aggressively to play them and they cause me more trouble than middling A-x hands.

Least favourite hand overall is clearly Q-9. Never had one before, but then somehow got all my chips in with this in back to back tournaments, and was shown aces both times :)

i hate A 10/ K 10 both look nice but more often thean not end up costing me money. as for pocket pairs it has to be jacks

AK. YOu know it has potential and you know you should play it strongly, but when all is said and done it is a drawing hand, a high card and nothing more and at risk to a pair of twos.

JJ  is just a hand you have to play cagey is all, u need to see a flop with that hand,  (one of my favs lol)

personally i hate being up agaist A10 with anyhand, it allways seems to beat me lol

but as for my least favorite starting hand?, i would have to say any Ace,  K/Q/J so difficult to play correctly if you miss the flop, so many times you raise if you get called and the flop comes raggy u fire bullets all the way down i normaly waste my stack on them hands lol, i carnt even win with them when my opp tells me his hand ,   yesterday at my local 11 players left my opp is moaning that he has had the same hand 3 times in a row (A8 diamonds), i have AK to act before him so i limp he raises i flat call, flop comes rags no 8 i check he goes all-in i call only for an 8 to come on the river lol  agh i shouldnt of took advantage lol

KQ for me,

you can quite easily flop top pair and then not know what to do if someone raises or bets out......shaky one for me

you can also get caught on quite a few draws with KQ
