Title: How Would You Define Being On Tilt?
Post by: Sark79 on June 29, 2006, 12:51:29 AM
Like almost everyone who plays poker, I don't think Tilt effects me.  I feel that I can control it by sitting out a hand or two after a bad beat. I usually select a song from U-Tube and watch it or mess about on wikipedia until I feel calm again.  However this is just my view, perhaps I do suffer from it without being aware of it.

Earlier this evening, I lost a pot after only the second hand of sitting down at the table.  I re-bought in and the same thing happened straight away. Both times I held K,K and both times I was raised all in by complete and utter garbage  J,3 os and T,5 os.   I was $160 down after 5 mins.   I still felt relaxed and decided to play until I recovered my loses.  After 3 hours I managed to do this.

I just texted my mate and he said this is classic tilt.  Of course, I disagree completely with this.

Is playing until you feel content with your nights work a sign of Tilt or is this just being highly motivated to keep your good run in order?

I would say yes!

Although i call having 8h 9h on a Th Jh Qh flop vs  Ahrt Kh a bad beat, you are never ahead, its a cold deck but that for me is a kind of bad beat!

Tilt = playing anyway other than what you normally percieve to be the best play in any given situation.

Could be due to some pissant at the table who's got you off your game, not necessarily a beat.

yeah but thats a weaker excuse than a bad beat.

They're both pretty lame in the cold light of day.

We just choose to accept tilting after a beat as almost acceptable as it's such a common occurence.

Shouldn't really, being at one with the hedgehog, you never tilt.

Prickly though.
