Title: Let's Have a heated debate
Post by: Claw75 on June 30, 2006, 09:45:35 AM
I used to love 4 7, but I've finally reached the conclusion it's rubbish.  Am I a heretic?

Utter rubbish,

often misplayed though - you gotta know what you're doing with a hand like 7 4, it's not for the beginners :D

Playing Claw heads up at the end of an extended last night.

I held 47o and check raised the 9JQ flop all-in. She held 910.

So she was priced into calling (and very likely to be ahead anyway)

Turn card 4

Anyone wanna guess what the river was......

It is garbage, i played an STT with some others from here the other week, i raise with A10 and Kiv goes allin................as everyone folds in turn i hover the cursor over the fold button.
Just as it gets to me Kiv types in "the nuts", HAHAHA i immediatley call and he shows 74 off and of course gets crushed :D
So i'm afraid to say it's absolute trash!!

It is the ultimate hand, when played properly players can not stop giving you all the chips on the table. The other day DC is playing a cash game and I walk up, guy next to him says 'you are that crazy 4/7 guy". Yes I am I replied, he goes on to tell how I kicked his but because no one at the table could put me on a hand. That is what 4/7 is, the ability to confuse your opposition into giving you all his chips. I am off to win another bracelet w/  4h 7c, I think today is my day.

LONG LIVE  4h 7c

AND DONT FORGET ITS USUALY OPERATOR ERROR WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK ;goodvevil; :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

you had a heated debate without me?

It doesn't count as a heated debate unless the thread is removed!!!

Brian, do you ALWAYS play 4 7 , suited or not ?

do you always raise, limp, call raises?

i just dont see how it can be a good hand in the long run!

I always raise, sometimes I call a raise but not always

what I think Brians saying is the 7,4 itself is irrelevant. It's being impossible to read. playing 7,4 hoping to hit the flop hard is missing the point. infact it's one of those hands you'd probably rather miss with. with a 7,4 off on an A high board you know you're bluffing. when you have 7,4 suited and flush you don't know if you're best or not. if you're the kind of player showing down 7,4 people are going to be calling you with suited high cards and suited rag Aces to try and catch you.

The way I see 7,4 it's almost like playing blind without your opponent knowing. you can pretend you're cards are anything and aslong as you have the ability and the stack to convince your opponents and you can reasonable accurately put them on a hand and spot if the are not passing then 7,4 is as good a hand as any.

Although 2,2 is statistically ahead of A,K we all know that AK is the better hand because it's easier to know where you are in the hand. in the same way 7,4 is a better hand than A,9 because at least you know you have filth and are stealing. If the board reads J,9,3 I think you're better off having 7,4 than A,9.
