Title: The Legend of 4/7 Offsuit
Post by: I, Zimbra on June 30, 2006, 02:53:58 PM
A few nights ago I was a bit bored, so I decided to watch an episode from the WSOP 2005, selected from my VHS collection.

Appropriately enough, I selected last year's Pot Limit Hold'Em final table. Now, I was expecting to see some play of the legendary 4/7 and evidence of its mystical powers, during the Rookie's bracelet win.

To my surprise, there was not one 4/7 or 7/4 offsuit in the ESPN footage (a few 5-4's, but no 7-4's!).

Which got me thinking... how did the legend of 4/7 get started?

Someone here must know the story...  :D

That was downright weird... I started this thread without realising that someone else had started an almost identical thread, less than an hour ago...

maybe it does have magical powers after all!  Another spooky 47 story - in a blonde-dominated sng last night, Scott won a pot of 774 with a 447 flop. The I noticed my own chip stack was at that time sitting at 4747.

do you think its similar to the set of numbers used in the TV show Lost? Is it set by the Poker Gods  ;pokergods; that someone has to play and win with 4/7o every 148 minutes or else something terrible will happen to us all?

Yes - that must be it - except I suspect it is every 47 seconds
