Title: "A world of poker" - TV show Post by: Acidmouse on July 04, 2006, 09:30:46 AM Did anyone else watch this?
I don't want to sound harsh but I hope the show improves over time it reminded me of something from the 80's. Title: Re: "A world of poker" - TV show Post by: Indestructable on July 04, 2006, 05:22:41 PM What channel was it on?

Title: Re: "A world of poker" - TV show Post by: Indestructable on July 05, 2006, 06:51:33 AM Started to watch this last night and the presenters were Malcolm "the rock" Harwood and Lyndsey Horne. Lyndsey was recently on pokerzone with Tikay and she is also the traffic reporter on Five live. Although the format was ok, I thought it was a bit rough round the edges and the sound quality wasn't good.
One thing that puzzles me is that poker 425 had to change to channel 854, but now this new shows is on channel 440, doesn't make sense to me. Title: Re: "A world of poker" - TV show Post by: Exorcism on July 05, 2006, 10:05:15 AM Too easy to be critical of a new show. Need to give it time. Mind you, the implication that it is worse than Poker425 sounds slanderous :D
I must take a look as they filmed the Paddy Power Gutshot Media comp which I finalled in (6th), knocking out Snoopy on the way (hehe - sorry mate). Don't often see myself on TV (thankfully). Malcolm is a really top bloke, I hope it succeeds. Title: Re: "A world of poker" - TV show Post by: Kaibobble on July 05, 2006, 11:36:48 AM Thanks for your comments guys.
Few initial teething problems with having to change channels and move studios all within 4 weeks. Still waiting on soundproofing and the London Broadcasting station to be able to broadcast in widescreen??? Hopefully you will see some vast improvements in the future as apart from Lynsey we are all totally new to this area. oh and ifm We aren't rivals to Blonde in the slightest, although we both have the same objections and that is to promote and lift this great game of poker we take different routes to achieve this. (and with the TV, 425 is a totally different type of show) And me and Tikay are great friends (even though he is always trying to get me drunk :D ) Title: Re: "A world of poker" - TV show Post by: Acidmouse on July 05, 2006, 11:51:26 AM I thought the graphics where too much, if you timed the actual content of the show I bet it was under 30mins. I must have seen "A poker world..its the nutz" over and over again, flashing across the tv. It looked like graphics from 20 years ago, very old fashioned and dated. That being said I like the interview with lucy R, just was not long enough. Content is king...
gl in the future shows. Title: Re: "A world of poker" - TV show Post by: Indestructable on July 05, 2006, 05:58:15 PM I ended up watching the rest of the show. Agreed that it is different to the 425 show and I guess if they are both weekly shows that there is room for both.
Good luck with future shows. :)up Title: Re: "A world of poker" - TV show Post by: tiger123 on July 06, 2006, 04:59:36 PM Gutshot is on next Monday.

Title: Re: "A world of poker" - TV show Post by: snappit on July 06, 2006, 10:09:27 PM Hi everyone, my first posting here and hope to be joining in a bit more.
I'm not connected with the show but am a friend of Malcolm. I think undeniably the first show was not perfect. I do know however, how committed they are to improving it and how hard they have been working. I'm sure that once all the teething problems have been sorted out it will turn into a top show. I mainly watch PNL (to which Tikay is a very welcome addition) If like me you have watched it from the beginning you would appreciate how it has changed after a rocky and almost amateurish start to the slick show it is now. I haven't seen poker 425 but will try and catch it later. Title: Re: "A world of poker" - TV show Post by: Jim-D on July 06, 2006, 10:10:59 PM :hello: ;welcome; Snappit.

I think the important thing is that the people like Malcolm and Kate who are making the show have a real passion for it and for poker. I think this is why it is good that we can be constructive in our criticism and they will listen. Its good to see that people on this forum are being constructive and not having a go just because it's run by AWOP. A few weeks ago I had the honour to play in the Pokerzone Pokerbowl which should be broadcast soon. I had been quite critical of the show in the past but, one thing I learned from that experience is how passionate people involved in these shows are and how they will listen to the viewers. This I have found recently can be transferred to poker players as a whole. I have been playing internet poker for a couple of years but only really played live over the past six months or so. Before this I really didn't know any other poker players but have been amazed to find out how helpful and nice they can be. It is good that more experienced players are willing to give advice on forums like this and also on shows like PNL where Tikay, Malcolm and others are quite prepared to explain their own game in order to help the likes of me. Earlier today I emailed a PNL viewer who I knew was good at his game for a bit of advice as I was running bad. I didn't know the guy but he gave me his number so I could ring him. What a star. I also rang Malcolm who was quite happy to help me as well. I know I've rambled on a bit but what I'm really trying to say is the people involved in this game are passionate and not selfish as you would imagine. This why I really want to support any Poker show that is made by poker people for poker people.
