Title: LUTON RESULT, 500 POT LIMIT
Post by: tikay on August 11, 2005, 04:28:42 AM
Great comp this - 10k starting chips! 122 runners I think, but here's the OFFICIAL result, not allowing for "business".

18th Gardner-Brown, 500

17th, J Bahlbom (??)500

16th, Dave Colclough, 500

15th, D Gregory, 500

14th, A Wilson, 500

13th, C Reisner, 500

12th, S Coote, 500

11th, M Goodwin, 500

10th, R Jelassi, 500

9th, A Mackay, 1,700

8th, S Riviere, 1,980

7th, L Patten, 2,260

6th, J Huckle, 2,540

5th, B Kohli, 3,960

4th, Steve Templeman, 5,370

3rd, R Wilford, 7,630

2nd, Burnley John, 11,300

WINNER, "King" Richard Ashby

Richard was down to the felt for much of the comp - great performance by him.

And once again 10th-18th place end up losing money!

I'd have thought a little common sense should have kicked in by now!  Surely its time to put a stop to this idiotic situation.

How so?  The entry fee was only 500.  The service charge is not the part you pay to the prize pool.   I quite enjoy the fact you get your money back for the second table.  It would be nicer if they paid 2 tables just 500, it would actually increase the overall EV and decrease the variance for the skilled player, while making all the fish happy.

And once again 10th-18th place end up losing money!

Entry was 530, so you end up -30...A series of 10th -18th spots will leave you broke. >:(

Its still a part that comes from the players pocket!

If I finish 10th out of 120 or so entries (and in some cases 140+) I'd like to think that I'd have more money in my pocket than when I started, even if its just a token amount.

The UK is the only country I know that has 'prizes' of less than the original buy-in in cash tournaments.  Everywhere else, B&M and online, seems to have a clue!
