Title: live play advice? Post by: bhoywonder on July 05, 2006, 08:21:50 PM whats your views on this scenario??
4 left in a small mtt..only 2 tables..structured so that only 2 get paid.. player 1...25000 player 2...50000 player 3...25000 me/you ..35000 blinds 1000/2000 with running antes of 400 me/you are on the small blind with Ad Kd action:- player 2 flat calls..player 3 flat calls..i call in the small blind..big blind goes all in ( player 1)..player 2 calls his all in..player 3 folds.... wot to do here??? Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: IveGotOuts on July 07, 2006, 06:17:01 AM Looks like player 2 has a big hand - as the chip leader he wouldnt make that call unless he did so.
The equity you gain from player 1 being knocked out outweighs that of racing (at best) to triple your stack. Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: thetank on July 07, 2006, 06:21:27 AM Couldn't agree more. Pass your pretty cards.
Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: ACE2M on July 07, 2006, 12:45:38 PM call.
depends a bit on wether the cl is a tricky player but i think you are very likely to be up against Ax or middle pair. if the cl wins the hand you get third anyway. Cl expects you to fold also as you have limped a pot with multiple limpers. Call because you have him dominated. Even if the BB has a monster you could still be in the tourney if you beat the cl in the hand. this is probably text book wrong but i would call. Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: fishguts on July 07, 2006, 01:03:52 PM i raise preflop..
in your case, after you limped in the SB, i pass ;) Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: Jon MW on July 07, 2006, 01:27:03 PM i raise preflop.. in your case, after you limped in the SB, i pass ;) Got to agree - with three people in your odds of winning would be too low to make it worthwhile. Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: thetank on July 07, 2006, 02:01:37 PM if the cl wins the hand you get third anyway. Only the top 2 pay. Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: NoflopsHomer on July 07, 2006, 03:09:30 PM Why are you limping OOP with AK?
Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: ACE2M on July 07, 2006, 03:35:25 PM if the cl wins the hand you get third anyway. Only the top 2 pay. missed that. fold in an instant. No way on earth would i limp AK there. Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: GlasgowBandit on July 07, 2006, 03:48:21 PM I am raising pre flop and I agree about the limp you can't call for all your stack now.
Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: boldie on July 07, 2006, 03:52:39 PM you have to pass....why bother getting involved when passing gives you the upper hand? You staying in is what it's all about when you get near the bubble.
Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: thetank on July 07, 2006, 07:48:46 PM The limp may not be such a bad play depending on your reads of people.
Lets consider the following, we're 2nd in chips, we want to make this money with the minimum gamble. The only guy at the table who can bust you this hand has limped, perhaps this is unusual for him. Perhaps he is a player who usually raises, especially when chipped up four handed. It's entirely possible he has a monster. Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: bhoywonder on July 07, 2006, 11:53:53 PM player 1 had 66
player 2 had 88 i folded btw..after a long hard think..i asked for time and Bob the dealer had a good laff at that..lol and the 8's help up and player 1 was gone an ace fell on the flop but alas no time for disapointment.... the reason i didnt raise pre-flop was cos player 1 wa going all in most hands..he seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere and i suspected i would be called and maybe caught wi a load of rubbish...probably a poor reason anyway i managed to get to HU and cut a deal..after reading Harrington 3,the requirements for calling in this spot is very high maybe KK or AA...which surprised me Title: Re: live play advice? Post by: boldie on July 10, 2006, 11:29:33 AM anyway i managed to get to HU and cut a deal..after reading Harrington 3,the requirements for calling in this spot is very high maybe KK or AA...which surprised me sounds about right to me...you see...you have the all in raise and the call this close to the cash. You need to be 99% sure you're ahead..the only way to be this sure is with AA or KK. It's tight play but this is not the time to gamble and you have to know atleast 1 guy is ahead of you (Thecaller player2) and the big blind (original raiser) you havew to take for mminimum A Q so he has one of your Aces (which you need to beat player 2)...so anything other then AA or KK is a fold..... this is just my opinion ofcourse but I am a tight player, especially in a situation like this. Title: Re: live play advice? The other caller doesnt need much to be calling the loon's all in. |
