Title: pokerface Post by: bolt pp on July 07, 2006, 04:04:48 PM I just saw this new ant and dec program called pokerface advertised on the telly.
does anyone know whats its going to be about and if it has anything to do with poker, i hope not because i imagine it will be terrible! Title: Re: pokerface Post by: mikkyT on July 07, 2006, 04:10:33 PM No its not poker. But its a question and answer gameshow that involves lots of bluffing I believe...
Title: Re: pokerface Post by: ripple11 on July 07, 2006, 06:20:12 PM Apparently they came up with the idea of the game whilst down the pub one night! Title: Re: pokerface Post by: londonpokergirl on July 07, 2006, 07:58:46 PM www.itv.com/pokerface
however when i looked a few days ago the link wasn't correct on their website Title: Re: pokerface Post by: Indestructable on July 16, 2006, 09:26:27 PM Saw the final of this tonight. To be fair i hadn't seen the rest of the series, but I just didn't get this show. I normally like Ant n Dec, but just found the format to be poor.
It came down to the last two and both were around £75,000, one was a bit higher. If one of them folds the other wins a million, if neither folds then the one with the lowest score loses £75k. Who in their right mind would fold knowing that they could be turning down a million? That is basically what happened, neither folded and the one with the most questions right was the winner. So well done the winner here is a million and the runner gets nothing, ha ha. It is just rubbish telly and hope Ant n Dec find a better format. Title: Re: pokerface Post by: Indestructable on July 16, 2006, 10:32:33 PM Perhaps they should stick to presenting or go back to Byker Grove.
:D Title: Re: pokerface Post by: Lee on July 16, 2006, 10:53:10 PM I thot it was ok, but i was perhaps biased as i knew the girl on it
Title: Re: pokerface Post by: Graham C on July 16, 2006, 10:55:40 PM The girl who won?
Title: Re: pokerface Post by: TheJagster on July 16, 2006, 10:56:50 PM Which one? the one who won?
Title: Re: pokerface Post by: Lee on July 16, 2006, 10:57:10 PM No the girl who was heads up and refused to take 15.5k and lost the lot
Title: Re: pokerface Post by: Graham C on July 16, 2006, 10:58:37 PM Ah not so good. Is she gutted? I would be, but then I think if I knew I'd had a bad round, I'd have folded.
The idiot that didn't fold tonight and lost £75k can't have thought he was in the lead, he'd had a few bad rounds. Title: Re: pokerface Post by: TheJagster on July 16, 2006, 10:59:18 PM Damn thats a shame Lee.....I hoped it was the other one.
Big boobs and a million quid....I'd have given you beer for an intro :D (Mrs Jagster dont look!!!) Title: Re: pokerface Post by: Jon MW on July 17, 2006, 08:32:21 AM Nobody folding for the million was a bit obvious - which just made it funny when we knew he was going to lose all his money.
But I think the girl who won it wasn't ahead in her heat, so she only got to the final because somebody folded when they were winning. I think if it was an ongoing series where the amounts were more like in the heats, risking 20 or 30 thousand for the chance to win 50k it would work well with a mixture of people losing from not folding and folding when they were winning, so all in all I think the format could be a good one. Title: Re: pokerface Post by: stallyon on July 17, 2006, 03:45:51 PM i watched this all last week (only missed 2 shows) and found the format to be poor. But to be honest, gambling on 75k to win 1 million was a huge risk. especially since he didnt do very well on previous rounds. he should have cut his losses and walked away with 75. At that stage in the contest, the only way you can not fold is if you have had very good rounds ach and every time. the winner had which is why she didnt fold. BTW she is a professional quiz player and has been on a couple of other game shows as well. i expected her to win all along.
Title: Re: pokerface Post by: mex on July 17, 2006, 05:11:25 PM this show will not last more than 2 series, its easy to work out to fold or not. Simply look at average scores per round add what the winner of that round got and aim for this score. If you know your above it don't fold, you know you have good odds to win.
