Title: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 02:50:15 PM As explained on General Discussion, I may be able to bring you a bit of a Mini Update from Brighton. It's a £500 event, & 18 players return at 3pm. There were 114 runners. We are in the rather lovely upstairs cardroom n the Rendezvous, overlooking the Marina. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 03:04:31 PM Yup, Steve got a nice draw in Scotland last week, but this is England, where it's much tougher.....
Alan McLean looks very well, & he has an amazing game for a man of 93, too. Ash Hussain is another to be watched, he's the Rankings Leader I believe. Timmy Man is a "hot" local, Thewy clashed with him in Southend earlier this year. Jim Kerigan like a bad smell, we can't get rid of him. (His words!) J Kimber - the amazing Jaffa Cake on Laddies, he has awesome Online game. But he's a Geordie. But I'm going for Jules Adamson, a lovely boy. His sweatband is ultra-cool,, he's the new Thewy, he has much in common with Yoyo, particularly that effiminate nature. It's Shuffle Up & Deal! Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: outlawz_x on July 09, 2006, 03:09:22 PM Hi there tikay, hope u r well? can you wish Ash the best of luck from me thanks
keep up the good work Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: RED-DOG on July 09, 2006, 03:10:28 PM That looks like a great structure. I wanted to play this, but I had to go to a wedding (in case you didn't know)
Wharrappened to you? Misread? Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 03:12:16 PM There's likely to be an accident on one table, where Tim Man, Jules Adamson, Jaffa Cake & Jim Kerrign are all sat in a row. Jaffa Cake has a remarkable game, he makes some awesome calls Online if he has the odds. Brighton is heaving with tourists, not a room or a car park space to spare. I stood on the front last night, there were young girls galore, wearing micro-minis, little crop tops, it was horrible I tell you, horrible. I did not know where to look. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: RED-DOG on July 09, 2006, 03:13:45 PM I'm playing a satellite for a satellite for the WSOP. I wanting it badly counts for anything, I'll see you in Vegas!
Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 03:16:56 PM That looks like a great structure. I wanted to play this, but I had to go to a wedding (in case you didn't know) Wharrappened to you? Misread? More of a misunderstandng. I had Ac Qc, & the flop came Kc 5c 5d. Not the worst of flops for my hand, so I pushed. Tony Bolton called me PDQ - he had Kh Kd........ Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 03:19:29 PM Just seen a shocker between K Quinlan & J Dunsford.

Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 03:26:52 PM 16 now. Young Alan McLean busted Stoneham, a straightforward AK v AQ jobbie. Outlawz - message passed on. I'm only doing the Update because he asked me to! Jim D - I have corrected that "ouch" hand. I typed it in correctly originally, but the software is playing iup...... Think of "balls". Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: Jim-D on July 09, 2006, 03:45:49 PM You should of known that outlawz, He is off the telly you know!!
Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 03:48:37 PM Alan McLean just made an amazing play. Z Ziyard made it 6k with 7s 7h, Methusalah McLean called with 8h 9s. Flop was Qs Js 3s Ziyard bets 12k, Alan calls. Turn, 8c Ziyard bets 15k, Alan calls. River 2d Ziyard bets 25k, Alan calls! Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: outlawz_x on July 09, 2006, 03:49:10 PM I profusely apologise mr kendall, it wont happen again
Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: RED-DOG on July 09, 2006, 03:51:33 PM I can't play that hand like that from either seat
Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 03:55:07 PM Jim Kerrigan just moved all in Post-Flop with 3 way action pre-flop, Jaffa asked for a count & gave Jim an almighty stare & dwell before passing, the other guy was out of it by now. The flop was Jc 8c 5c The incorrigable Kerrigan showed 3c 2c Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 04:00:25 PM McLean does it again, the hard way this time.
He gets it in with Jh Js, but he walks into Praz's Qh Qs First card out? Jd Praz is out, but you gotta feel for him. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 04:02:58 PM Now Jules Adamson, Jim Kerrigan & Matey Boy get in 3 way action, & it looked like Jules was making a squeeze play when he moved in. Kerrigan dwelt for ever, then passed, face up, Ac Kh Matey Boy (A Thorpe) had Js Jh, Jules had Qs Qh. No A or K fell, either....... Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 04:07:21 PM So, 12 (TWELVE) left, we have lost 6 in exactly one hour, & blinds have just moved up to 1.500 - 3,000.

Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 04:15:01 PM The "1" is missing off this Keyboard. Or was. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 04:21:15 PM Steve Jelenik, about 190k, Alan McLean, 160k, Tim Man, 120k, have over half the chips in play between them.
Tim Man is a lovely guy. Of Chinese origin (or out that way somewhere), he has a great sense of humour. Like him a lot. I think he lives in Orpington, or Tunbridge Wells, or maybe somewhere else. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 04:26:35 PM Hammer McLean strikes again. He calls a short-stack, short stack has Ac 7d, Alan has 3h 3d
Flop comes...... Ahrt 7s 3c.....! No more dramas, & Alan busts yet another. Dunsford Raised it up, Jsaffa moved in with 9-9, & Jim Dunsford eventually made the call with QQ. No outdraw, &, sadly, we lose Jaffa. FINAL! Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 04:56:02 PM A short break now Pre-Final, I need to go & do the 425 "Link" - back soon. Behave while I'm away. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 05:27:38 PM Please wish my old mucker Tony Bolton good luck from me Tikay. Told him Ralph, he laughed, & said "yeah, we are good pals from a long way back". Hard to get a word in edgeways with Tony, truth to tell, he's some character. He was Dog Racing this mornng, I believe. Likes a bet now & then, I fancy..... I omitted Jim Dunsford from the list of leaders, he has as many as Steve Jelenik, maybe more. Or less. Blinds up, 2k-4k, & they are racing for the 500's. I am still trying to work out how 9 players busted out in the first 90 minutes this afternoon with this structure, though I only managed 2 hours in total, so I can't be critical. But 50k was average (I think), & it was a 1 hour clock with blinds at 1k-2k, so 25 x BB average. The McLean Factor helped I guess. But now I've been given permission to have a puff in the corner. Famous, see? Nemesis, bless him, as sent me book & a CD - "How to Stop Smoking", but I've not read it yet. Guess I ought to. We have lost a Finalist, Billy Low Stack, he got crippled by Tim Man & then finished off by Not Tim Man. It's the detail that counts, eh? 8 left. Approx. Messages for OiOiSaveloy & MPower to follow, gotta do th Exit Interview for Billy Low Stack now. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: Karabiner on July 09, 2006, 05:39:31 PM Thanks Tony.
TB and I used to frequent Wandsworth snooker club and the spielers South of the river in the late 70's and early 80's, Sid the milkman's gaff was one. We also used to play at the Mazurka in the West End. He's as mad as a hatter but a diamond. He could tell you a few stories....... ::) Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 05:42:28 PM Billy Low Stack's name was Kevin Sombody, nice geezer. Just had a toenail off, so he limped a lot.
Works for Pokervision, who are something to do with Poker, I gather. Jim chased a flush draw all the way, but passed for his last 20k on the end when he missed, showing Q high. He was almost certainly ahead..... Ash Hussain, Jules Adamson, Akan McLean, Jim Kerigan (just), Steve Jelenik, Tim man & Jim Dunsford. Jim Kerigan just doubled up with A-7 v a manadatory call with T-4 by Steve Jelenik. Kerrigan has a sort of mini-Fan Club here, "go the man in black" sort of thing. I need to pack this irony/attempted humour lark up. We filmed the 425 TV Link in front of the Marina, which, as always, is crammed with boats, not a berth is empty. "As you can see, all the Amateur Sailors have cast off & gone sailing, barely a boat left in the Marina" I blather on. Cameraman - a new guy, lovely man too, stops the camera. "tikay, we will have to do that again I'm afraid, there are thousands of boats in the Marina, & they are in camera". Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 06:31:26 PM Tim Man has around 130k I'd say. And he has made a boat out of a serviette - I kid you not. He's doubled up again & again, & is nicely back in it now with 80k. He just left enough behind in a 3 way Pot to get rid of both Jelenik & Hussain, who both passed to Jim's all-in for 25k on 9-3-2 flop, Ash Hussain showing A-J suited. I have a big batch of PM's to answer, my apologies, but my Vodafone Dubree is playing up, so they will have to wait until I get home, tomrrow probably. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 06:46:02 PM All you young hot-shoes would do well to take on board Alan McLean's game. He's busy busy busy here, as always, Raising the lfe out of the table. Look him up on one of the Databases & check out his record. He must have scores & scores of Ranking Finals to his name. Mild-mannered, always a smile, were that there were more like him around. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 06:57:56 PM Everybody is busy really, except Jim Dunsford, who seems to have nailed his subsantial stack to the table since that remarkable 4 flush with AQ v AK earlier today. Good luck to them all, it's a cracking Final. Jules Adamson sends a message to Iwan Jones (OiOiSaveloy) but I can't repeat it here. Something about where Iwan would be if he were here, & had busted out. Home, I assume. Then again, who'd want to rush back to Wales? On a flop of Qs Jd 5c, Jules Adamson had moved in, Aln McLean had calld, & Jim Kerrigan called too. On theor backs, & we had...... Jules with 8s 7s for the flush draw. Alan McLean with Ks Td for the up & down straight. And canny Jim Kerrigan, down to the felt an hour ago, flipped over the Aces. Turn, 3h River.. Qh Alan gets the Side Pot, Jim gets the huge Main Pot, & Jules Adamson gets his marching orders. 6 left - amazing comeback by that man Kerrigan. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 07:23:51 PM A wee-break is due in a few minutes, so I will get some accurate Chip Counts. Jim Dunsford seems to have lost a few chips, I think he may have played a hand. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 07:38:08 PM Ash Hussain 85k (European Rankings leader)
Alan McLean 204k (Oldest Man in Poker) Jim Kerrigan 160k (Man in Black) Steve Jelenik 244k (pronounced Yelenik) Tim Man 160k (velly funny Man, just done a wonderful interview for 425, I never understood a word). Jim Dunsford 59k. (The Quiet Man). Blinds will be 4k-8k when they re-commence, in 2 minutes. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: Tractor on July 09, 2006, 07:58:36 PM Alan McLean 204k (Oldest Man in Poker) Surely the 2nd?? ;tk; Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 08:10:00 PM Alan McLean 204k (Oldest Man in Poker) Surely the 2nd?? ;tk; Behave Tractor Boy. Meanwhile, Jim Dunsford is OUT, & jolly unlucky he was, too. Jim had 7s 7h, Steve Jelenik had 6d 6c, & the first card out was a pesky 6s Well played Jim. 5 left. 6th paid £3,000, 5th will get £4,300. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 08:19:49 PM Roy The Boy & Mags just wandered in - Mags is 5 months pregnant. How absolutely splendid! Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 08:24:13 PM Steve Jelenik makes a move with Jc Tc, Ash Hussain moves in with Kh Ks, & Steve is Pot-Stuck, so has to call. No dramas, & Ash gets a nice double-up. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 08:28:50 PM It's all going wrong for Steve Jenik. It's tough to get off 7-8 on a flop of 3-5-6 flop, but Jim Kerrigan was going nowhere with his 7-7, & it held up, & Steve's stack takes a whack. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 08:31:51 PM ..but the Poker Gods sort it out the very next hand, & Steve very near busts Alan McLean with A-T v K-J on an A-J-x flop, and another A rivered.
Alan busted out the next hand, for 5th, & £4,300 Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: Karabiner on July 09, 2006, 08:34:05 PM Thanks Tony. TB and I used to frequent Wandsworth snooker club and the spielers South of the river in the late 70's and early 80's, Sid the milkman's gaff was one. We also used to play at the Mazurka in the West End. He's as mad as a hatter but a diamond. He could tell you a few stories....... ::) He's just told me a few stories Ralph - WOW! Colin Kennedy was in your little team too, I gather. Anyway, TB has declined a TV Interview, he don't do TV he tells me. He likes to tell the story about how he bokked me, that was a bokking I had time to reflect on ::) Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 08:37:59 PM ..but the Poker Gods sort it out the very next hand, & Steve very near busts Alan McLean with A-T v K-J on an A-J-x flop, and another A rivered.

Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 08:46:15 PM And wth £48,000+ in play, discussions are, shall we say, "vigorous". Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: RED-DOG on July 09, 2006, 08:47:36 PM I'm playing a satellite for a satellite for the WSOP. I wanting it badly counts for anything, I'll see you in Vegas! One down, one to go.... Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 08:52:57 PM Steve Jelenik takes another stack-whack, when his AQ is pipped by Tim Man's AK, & Tim is a MONSTER now. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: Jim-D on July 09, 2006, 09:00:05 PM I'm playing a satellite for a satellite for the WSOP. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 09:02:55 PM The "deal" appears to be Steve Jelenik £12k (because he was chip Daddy at the time) & the other 3 guys £10k each, leaving £6k each to play for. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: JaffaCake on July 09, 2006, 09:07:56 PM Hi Tikay, fine work as ever, bit cross with my play today after doing the ActionJack plod all day yesterday to get in a decent position, just a bad read and frustration at having to play without any hands for two hours. I can't believe he took so long to call with QQ five handed, has he not seen me play!?
Good to meet u properly Tony, and ty for the kind words, altho i play mainly online i'm having a crackin year offline, take a look at the hendon mob database ;tk; Have to tell u a hand from yesterday, me and Jim Kerrigan sat two apart for eight hours or so. Late on, dealer is, well, dealing, and accidentally flicks over Qd which should be Jim's first card. She deals on and of course gives him the last card. He is second to speak and makes a big show of 'I hope for your sake that queen wasn't important (joking of course), and looks impressed at his cards and raises. I'm two to him left, look down to find Kh Ks and reraise. He stares me down and then stares at the dealer, saying your replacement wasn't bad, showing Aspades, but if you could have left the Qd face down I'd have been a lot happier...and he shows Qs. I think maybe all the chips go in if he keeps the queens....I told Jim I'd tell him what I had one day....feel free to tell him what a lucky chap he is hehe. Good luck to all those left Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 09:28:47 PM Hi Tikay, fine work as ever, bit cross with my play today after doing the ActionJack plod all day yesterday to get in a decent position, just a bad read and frustration at having to play without any hands for two hours. Good luck to all those left Thank you Mr Cake, the feeling is mutual, & I really do think that's some game you have there. Meanwhile, the four survivors are battling on here. It' just selfish - I have a 3 or 4 hour drive to get home. Sigh. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 09:35:37 PM The "Deal Curse" strikes in reverse today. Steve Jelenik, who took the biggest "cut" in the deal, is OUT, busted by Comeback King Kerrigan. 111 down, 3 to go. I am sat here with Nigel from Ladbrokes, Roy The Boy, & Mags, & they are all rooting for Italy to win the World Cup. I'd get on France, then, what do these Ladbrokes boys know? The poker managers in particular have always been extremely helpful. Big up to them :)up Passed on Tom, they said "thanks". These last 3 guys are still grinding away, so it's gonna be well late before I get home. Even money home in time for the Graveyard Special? Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 10:06:18 PM As soon as this finishes, I shall do the last 3 interviews for 425 & get on my bike, so I will take this chance to say thanks for tuning in, and special big thanks to the Guys & Girls at The Rendezvous. Don't stick the fork in though, I'm not quite done. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 10:08:32 PM ....and don't be ringing me in the morning until the afternoon, right? Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 10:14:53 PM Ash Hussain is OUT in 3rd. He called Tim's Raise all-in with Ahrt Jd, Tim showed Ac Jc, but the flop came all clubs! Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 10:21:14 PM Tim just suggested to Jim that they split the remaining lolly half each (£12,500 each) & play for the trophy thing. Jim quickly agreed, and it was a fair offer, as Tim has Jim nicely covered. Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: RED-DOG on July 09, 2006, 10:23:44 PM The Graveyard? Tonight? No chance!
Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 10:29:47 PM The Graveyard? Tonight? No chance! Hmm, starting to look doubtful, & to be fair, I am well tired, so maybe not. But you never know....... Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: Jim-D on July 09, 2006, 10:30:26 PM Thankyou for the updates Tikay, great job :)up
Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: tikay on July 09, 2006, 10:42:10 PM It's over! In an amazing last hand, Tim Man prevails. On a flop of 2c 4d 6s, Tim bet, Jim RR'd, Tim moved all-in, & Jim called. Jim showed Js Jh, &, remarkably, Tim showed 2h 5s..... Inevitably, the 3 rivered, & that was that. What is it that sloppy says? Stick a fork in me. PS - Thanks Jim! Title: Re: Brighton Mini-Mini Live Update Post by: RED-DOG on July 09, 2006, 10:47:50 PM Can't you stay in Brighton?
