imo i thought that was blinding!!!!!

this game has been joke for too long.

Both hansen and shearer have ascribed the declining reputation of the game to the duplicitous tactics of the "continental" players during this world cup and they're correct.

It used to be a mans game but now its full of little mugs like ronaldo that fall about like little girls whenever anyone comes within 3 yards of them, its disgusting.

A ruck is now considered as someone pushing someone else although the scum that play today would rather spit in your face!!

great move from zidane, hes a man and he wasnt having it, whatever the guy said to him must've been very naughty and zidane just wasn't having it.

my only regret about the situation is that he only caught the little girls chest and didn't land one straight on his nose.

Zidane Just fcuked it for himself, he career and most of all his country in the WC Final!

He's a tosser.

just cos someone says something "Naughty" to you, doesnt mean you lower yourself to a street thug standard

your looking at it from a blinkered perspective.

the action has  greater meaning for the conservation of the sports credibility, i think he's salvaged some dignity for the sport in a world cup thats been consumed by the decadence of the modern day continental player

so would you prefer it if headbutting were aloud to make the game more "manly"?

no, of course not that would be ludicrous, i never said that zidane shouldn't have been sent off for the incident.

a red was of course the only recourse for the ref.

what i was saying though was that its a mans game and rather than spitting in someones face, which alan shearer conceded was the worst possible transgression of footballing etiquette that would result in him maybe clumping the perpetrator(in reference to the diouf incidents), or rolling around like a baby like rivaldo did with the sole intention of getting the other guy sent off, he done it the proper way.

headbutt, there you go, I'm not going to roll on the floor 10 minutes after you made the comment to me and try and get you red carded, i'm not gonna spit in your face like an animal, i'm not going to carry out some cowardly act of gamesmanship, i am however going to stand in front of you, look you in the eye, and headbutt you in front of everyone, NICE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I completely agree, but also agree with alan shearers contention that i'd rather be the recipiant of a headbutt than a ball of spit, which is an extension of the immoral influence that the continental players have on the game.

why does a player need to be a recipiant of any of the aboved two situations?

When did Alan Shearer have any moral highground to talk from?

He's probably feeling a little guilty from all the elbows/knees/headbutts he's dished out in his time that have gone unnoticed by referee's!!

yes because none of the english players ever dive.....Michael Owen sure as hell doesn't mind going down when it suits him...

It's very simple really. Diving is unacceptable and so is violence on the pitch. but even when you punch your team mate in the face on the pitch you only get a 600£ fine (even though you're on 20k a week)...

you punch someone in  the face on the street and you're in much worse trouble.

he is one of the best to ever play it (maybe the best in the last decade or so....) but was he the best this tournament? OK he was outstanding in the game against rbazil..but yesterday, especially first half, he was in Gattuso's pocket...and the other games he didn't really shine either.

My player of the tournament was Cannavaro...by a mile.
