Inspired by the arrival of Mad Marty's crew at Cincinnati's in a old beatup minibus, I am just wanting to gauge public opinion on those of us travelling from the West of Scotland  , about hiring a similar mode of transport.

i havent a clue on costs at the moment, but if you are interested, post on this thread so we can get an idea of numbers.

BTW, approx 300 quid for a 3 day hire of a minibus - could be cheaper, thats just the first place Ive looked at online.

depending on numbers you can get a 15 seater from Mitchells for £75 per day, which includes 250 miles per day - I have a few other contacts I can chase up tomorrow , it may end up costing nothing ;)

I will wait and gauge other responses tomorrow. but its looking good.

Plus we can all get pissed in the back of the van etc

only problem with minibus is 2 people will have to remain sober

i think train would be best option imagine takening over a whole carriage playing the first ever MTT on virgin trains

 i think it would be a better atmosphere if we all had a piss up and a laugh on the way down and it would build up the anticipation of releasing the Scottish beast on Walsall, ( as the Southerners done to us at BB2 ).

 also the mini bus might be a bit of a pain in the ass to arrange ( more hassle than its worth. )

I'd rather not have as early a start this time. Last time I was knackered and didn't last too well on the Saturday  8)

Don't drink whisky (or that foreign stuff whiskey). I was knackered though - had to go to bed after we had breakfast in the Hilton & charged it to Ironside's room before doing a runner in a taxi to our hotel  :D

 ill be heading down on the friday, either after work or during the day.

 that way i can make the football on the saturday morning, and go out for a few on the friday night.

 easier than going down early on the saturday and trying to cram football, poker, drinking in all on the one day.

Train sounds like a grand idea to me, Mind you, I'm up forany mode of transport that allows you to have a laugh.

The only problem I see with the train Idea is my fellow countrymen would have lost their bankrolls to me on the journey down.

Why the hell is this SOOOO confusing... Ok, returns are normally cheaper BUT when travelling on virgin trains and booking 1 day in advance, you can get a super value single for 18 quid which works out much cheaper.

good news is that i wont be able to get a flat this time round so no need to go running round halfolds on the saturday morning

nope got a new chair today old one was falling apart and they got solid tires not quite as comfortable but atleast you lot can't threaten me with letting my tires down

My oreferred option would be to take the train down.

My plan of action was to head down Friday - Monday! 

I like Rod's idea of Blackpool on the Friday sounds like a plan.

I have checked out train tickets  and you can get a single down and a single back up works out a total of £35 thats Glasgow to Brum.

May be an idea to maybe appoint a convener for the Scottish blondes and then that way its done and dusted with as little fuss as possible.

You'll need to book those tickets well in advance to take advantage of the reduced prize.

A ticket to brum will be about 70 quid otherwise (each way lol)

I'm all for a train journey, (bagsy a window seat) have we got an arranger or has it yet to be decided?

Yet to be decided,  I reckon we should get all Scottish acceptances into the CinCin sometime enxt week and discuss best options see what everyone wants to do.

No doubt there will be osme folk wanting to go down Friday, Saturday & Sunday and a few peeps justw anting to go Down Sat up on Sunday!

i like the idea of the train with a tourny on the way. blackpool also sounds good but dont know if i have the constitution to go drinking 2 or 3 nights in a row. what time do we need to be at walsall for and ho far away from blackpool is it? maybe a night in birmingham would be more sensible ???

Any updates on methods of travel and when people are intending to depart/return.  Want to get something booked fairly soon and would be sound to travel down with some company.

i was about to ask the same thing. now the tourny is starting at 4pm, im thinking of going down either the friday night or early sat morning. the train would be best most likely. i think we are going home sunday evening.

whats everyone else doing so i know about any hook ups before i book?

If the Scottish travellers are coming in horse-drawn waggons then I would suggest allowing three weeks.

if we can get 15 the minibus would be £300 from sat am til monday am. you cant take the bus back after 5.30 so it needs to be mon am.  the petrol could be split 15 ways. so maybe at most £40-50 per person return. i dont mind driving there and might consider coming back but i might have a hangover. anyone else want to drive?

thats 7 for the minibus and i dont mind you sleeping in it as long as you clean up after yourself:) maybe my costing of the return trip is wrong. how much u reckon for petrol there and back? id only be driving to glasgow. you can make your own way back from one point.
i looked at trains, which id prefer and couldnt see one less than 78 quid.

Got Flights booked for us with bmibaby for £46 return each, have to fly out of Edinburgh though. you can still get a return flight for around £50.

Yeah, I wondered about not booking a room 'coz we'll be playing poker all night anyway. I'll definitely need a cat nap at least before driving back though. Maybe getting drunk and passing out in a random location is the answer.
