Title: Urgent Advice needed - setting up a MTT Post by: Rod Paradise on July 14, 2006, 01:59:50 PM I know this is probably on the wrong section, but anyway....
40 players 5000chips (25/50/100/500/1000). 3 hour tournament wanted (yes a bit of a chip-chucker, but that's the time). What blinds should I have, ideally low for the first few levels to allow newbies to get a bit of play in, I can add an ante for the final table if I need to speed it up as I'll be the dealer. Thanks Title: Re: Urgent Advice needed - setting up a MTT Post by: matt674 on July 14, 2006, 02:10:28 PM i'd go for 9 20 minute levels
Hour 1: 25/50, 50/100, 100/200 Hour 2: 200/400, 300/600, 400/800 Hour 3: 600/1200, 800/1600, 1000/2000 Additional antes level 5 onwards if it looks a slow tourney. Title: Re: Urgent Advice needed - setting up a MTT Post by: Rod Paradise on July 14, 2006, 02:13:43 PM i'd go for 9 20 minute levels Hour 1: 25/50, 50/100, 100/200 Hour 2: 200/400, 300/600, 400/800 Hour 3: 600/1200, 800/1600, 1000/2000 Additional antes level 5 onwards if it looks a slow tourney. Cheers Matt. That's about what I was thinking. I wasn't sure whether to make it a bit steeper - but I'd rather have to introduce an ante than have the blinds raising too fast. Title: Re: Urgent Advice needed - setting up a MTT Post by: matt674 on July 14, 2006, 02:16:08 PM depends how willing your players are to "chuck em in", if you have 39 rocks and yourself then you may need to do 15 minute levels and maybe add a 150/300 early on with then a 2000/4000 and 3000/6000 at the end.
trial and error with the first go i'm afraid until you know the kind of players you'll have turning up :) Title: Re: Urgent Advice needed - setting up a MTT Post by: mikkyT on July 14, 2006, 02:33:22 PM depends how willing your players are to "chuck em in", if you have 39 rocks and yourself Love the implication there matt, well done rotflmfao Title: Re: Urgent Advice needed - setting up a MTT Post by: matt674 on July 14, 2006, 02:35:17 PM depends how willing your players are to "chuck em in", if you have 39 rocks and yourself Love the implication there matt, well doneĀ rotflmfao 0:-) Title: Re: Urgent Advice needed - setting up a MTT Post by: Rod Paradise on July 14, 2006, 02:57:28 PM depends how willing your players are to "chuck em in", if you have 39 rocks and yourself then you may need to do 15 minute levels and maybe add a 150/300 early on with then a 2000/4000 and 3000/6000 at the end. trial and error with the first go i'm afraid until you know the kind of players you'll have turning up :) I caught that one too. ;tk; I'm not playing - stand in TD for a Rugby Club fundraiser - could be fun ;goodvevil; Mikky, Matt and I met on the final table at BB2 - I wouldn't tell you who got further 8) Title: Re: Urgent Advice needed - setting up a MTT Post by: mikee_j on July 14, 2006, 03:02:57 PM 40 players, 5000 chips = 200,000 chips in play
your going to have to have a seriously aggressive blind schedule if you want to finish in 3 hours, unless you make it 2500 or 2000 chips per player my poker society at uni had a 3 hour slot, we usually had 20-35 runners starting with 2,500 with blinds: 25-50 50-100 100-200 150-300 5min break 200-400 300-600 400-800 500-1000 5min break 1000-2000 2000-4000 Title: Re: Urgent Advice needed - setting up a MTT Post by: Rod Paradise on July 14, 2006, 03:25:20 PM 40 players, 5000 chips = 200,000 chips in play your going to have to have a seriously aggressive blind schedule if you want to finish in 3 hours, unless you make it 2500 or 2000 chips per player my poker society at uni had a 3 hour slot, we usually had 20-35 runners starting with 2,500 with blinds: 25-50 50-100 100-200 150-300 5min break 200-400 300-600 400-800 500-1000 5min break 1000-2000 2000-4000 Cheers Mikkee, I've set it at 20 min rounds 25 50 50 100 100 200 5 min break 200 400 300 600 500 1000 5 min break 800 1600 1200 2400 1600 3200 I'll throw in antes if I need to speed things up. I can add another level of 2500/5000 if we are struggling to finish as well. |
