Post by: Ironside on July 18, 2006, 02:51:17 PM
i am getting a new leased car in just over 3 months i need to make my choice in the next week can anyone recomend a nice 3 door automatic that is no bigger than the old rover 25 (as if it is bigger i wont be able to get in and out of it in my garage as the space for oening the door isnt that big)

I'd recommend a nice little astra twin top... looks superb, and I think its about the same size as the old rover.

They are on the motability scheme this summer, and although the roof does fold up into the boot, theres still enough room for the chair, so I believe anyway.

I'd cehck it out for yourself though. It looks fking cool.

new honda civic? hang on not many cars this size come as an auto not. BMW  1 series comes in tiptronic as does citreon C4, althought i think they sit a bit low. I didn't like bmw until i went in 1 and i liked that.

The BMW 1 series in the best small car in the world,  it is the only one with rear wheel drive
in its class for that perfect 50/50 weight distribution.

IMHO. Unbiased of course.

BMW 1 series are good if you don't want anyone sitting in the back.

VW Polo?

Second that. Smooth, efficient, reliable and well priced. Couldn't be more pleased with mine.

I can vouch that MPower will look after you extra special-wecial if you wanna look at one of his motors. He will even deliver it to your door, right up there in whereveritis-shire. I had a motor off him recently, & he was as good as gold, blew smoke up my butt for days, but he did me well proud.

I wouldn't get a Beemer, Iron.  Not if you ever want to get out of busy junctions again.

Polo's are nice little cars but you don't get many in automatic.  You'd probably get a decent Astra in auto though, the Focus is a nice auto too.  If you want something like the old R25 - Get an MG ZR, they are great value, you'll still get a warranty from a decent dealer and they are nippy... You'll be let out of junctions too & nobody will mouth "Barclays Banker", or words to that effect, as you cruise by.

Astra too big... I guess Focus and Meganes are out then too?

Peugeot 206 or 307?  - The 206 is nice, my missus has one.

I guess MG's are not on Motorbility.  I drive autos so know it's tricky to find a good one, I have a MG ZT.

Or a Golf.

The only problem with Golf is all the fancy gear.  It isn't just the clubs, there is also the course membership, shoes, balls, bags, gloves, sunglasses, training aids, leasons, pullovers, waterproofs and exspensive clothes.

Signhhhh and it was odds on for a woman to say something like that.

I just couldn't picture why on earth a car 6 inches longer or 6 inches shorter could make any difference. I guess garaging is the only thing i could come up with, however a garage that is struggling to fit a small car doesn't exist does it, i thought they were called sheds.

i have a double garage big enough to fit 2 large cars, BUT the garage isnt wide enough for me to be able to open the door wide enough to get my wheelchair in and out so we created a sliding side door, now the only place we could created this door was at the back of the garage and the supporting wall meant we couldnt make the door any wider

so to get the door fully open and the car in the garage there cannot be to much room from the front of the door to the rear bumper
