Title: Re: Laptop - Does this look good value - quick sale closes soon Post by: smithy69 on July 19, 2006, 11:25:54 AM Cheers Paul, Can you see any basic models that would support poker and betfair. Dont wanna pay stupid amounts
I am looking on ebay alot but all the cheap ones seem to have something seriously wrong with them Title: Re: Laptop - Does this look good value - quick sale closes soon Post by: MrMoves on July 19, 2006, 11:35:22 AM That's the problem with laptops, they are pretty expensive still, although not as costly as a few years back.
Often you get what you pay for, £200 - £300 should get you a very good 2nd hand one. My lappy cost £649 but a colleague picked up the same one for just over £500 on eBay. If you're buying a 2nd hand one that appears cheap, try it out, if you can, before you buy it. That last one is running Windows 95 which isn't even supported by Microsoft anymore and has a number of security flaws. By spending a bit more you'll get a laptop which will last longer. Treat it as an investment in yourself!

Title: Re: Laptop - Does this look good value - quick sale closes soon Post by: smithy69 on July 20, 2006, 09:28:50 AM not alot at the mo buddy, the little one is growing quick and new clothes are being bought each week
dont wanna spend anymore than 150 really as only use it for betting purposes Title: Re: Laptop - Does this look good value - quick sale closes soon Post by: Graham C on July 20, 2006, 10:21:32 AM If it's only for betting and you are spending loads on the new baby, why not just wait till you have won a few more £££ and get a better one. It's all very well buying cheap but you will be wanting to upgrade soon and get frustrated at its slowness if you are used to a faster pc. Do you need a lappy at all? I think you are better of waiting untill you can afford a newer one personally.
Buy cheap, pay twice. Title: Re: Laptop - Does this look good value - quick sale closes soon Post by: Sark79 on July 20, 2006, 10:41:10 AM Buy cheap, pay twice. I can see you in my mind mate hosting a BBC show about buying and selling. You could be the new David Dickinson :D . Your catchphrase to the cameras " Buy cheap, pay twice " . You need to get a fake tan now and a pin stripped suit Title: Re: Laptop - Does this look good value - quick sale closes soon Post by: RED-DOG on July 20, 2006, 10:41:31 AM Smithy, I have a laptop I dont use anymore. it's an Acer travelmate 240.
15" screen Intel celeron 2.6 GHZ 1* 256mb DDRSD Ram 30GB HDD It's running windows XP and has a DVD player/CD re-writer. I don't use it becase the fan is a little noisy for my taste. You can have it for £150. If you don't like it, return it within two weeks and I will refund your money. As I said I dont know much about laptops at all. how old is the lappy tom Title: Re: Laptop - Does this look good value - quick sale closes soon Post by: RED-DOG on July 20, 2006, 11:01:55 AM It's about 2.5 years old.
Can I ask, why do you need a lappy? You can buy a destop much cheaper you know. See what you can come up with first, this is not going anywhere. Title: Re: Laptop - Does this look good value - quick sale closes soon Post by: smithy69 on July 20, 2006, 11:09:42 AM it takes up simply too much room in my house mate.
A laptop gives me more room, and means I dont have to disappear like a hermit when I use the comp. I would like to take up your offer tom if thats ok Title: Re: Laptop - Does this look good value - quick sale closes soon Post by: lazaroonie on July 20, 2006, 02:56:30 PM Smithy, I have a laptop I dont use anymore. it's an Acer travelmate 240. 15" screen Intel celeron 2.6 GHZ 1* 256mb DDRSD Ram 30GB HDD It's running windows XP and has a DVD player/CD re-writer. It is certainly far superior than what you are being offered on ebay. BTW - the acer OEM fans can be replaced ;) Title: Re: Laptop - Does this look good value - quick sale closes soon Post by: Nem on July 20, 2006, 06:40:56 PM Smithy, I have a laptop I dont use anymore. it's an Acer travelmate 240. 15" screen Intel celeron 2.6 GHZ 1* 256mb DDRSD Ram 30GB HDD It's running windows XP and has a DVD player/CD re-writer.
