Title: WSOP - Buy a Share
Post by: The_Patriot on July 19, 2006, 10:45:58 PM
I have taken it upon myself to sell %30 of my WSOP seat at %5 shares. Each share can be purchased for $350 ($500 Correct Price) I'm aware I'm not a full time pro on the circuit, however, my online tournaments results are excellent and I'm confident of a good and respectable showing in the Main event. If interested, gladly PM me.
Marty.

Wasnt calling him names just saying I have seen threads before with people taking the piss - if your not interested what the sense of posting? If you feel I'm not good enough to stake move on thats fine with me.. I dont expect purchases left right and centre as Im not a known name on the live circuit - I will be 1 day in the near future.

Unfortunately folks on here (or anywhere) are going to buy percentages of a player we know little or nothing about.
This has happened before twice, firstly disastrously, secondly very successfully (the share purchase anyway), the first case involved a player few knew, the second everyone knew.
This is the nature of things.

As it happens the person to which you refer is a hugely successful online player (a fish live though), his post may have been a little mischevious but not malicious.
I need to regurgitate this dictionary now!!!!!

Wow you played and lost $5000 heads up match.
What sort of bankroll would you need for playing 5K HU games? I'd say 50 buy-ins as a less than conservative estimate.

Fair play to you for asking this.

But I feel it may be a long shot (at best)

I posted a similar thing about 2 yrs ago when I lost all of my online roll - and got slated for it (and probably rightly so)

Here is what I see,

You have won a WSOP seat, why sell shares? To me, 2 reasons.

1) You dont feel too confident and want some return for your SAT win
2) You have been running bad and dont have enough money to take with you to Vegas

Now both of these reasons are totally understandable, but neither of which will install much confidence in people buying a share in you.

My advice is (for what ever reason you are asking) is to try and swap %ages with other "unlknowns" when you get to Vegas.

An honest post as I see the situation, not meant to offend in anyway.

BTW GL in Vegas!!

Gl in Vegas,
Another idea may be to sell % to people you know/play with regularly in your local casino or home games.
They know how well you play and are more likely to want to back a friend.

Just a thought, and GL once again.

That sounds a great idea suggested by M3.....to swap % with others in Vegas.....5 horses are always better than 1 !

sell shares with others at your local casino. if you have a reputation as a strong player with your regular live opponents then you should have no problem shifting some.

I take it you do play biggish buyin live events at least semi regularly?

ofcourse you do, but if not, family and friends, but I'm sure your live opponenets will be your best shot.

GL in Vegas

Post by: ripple11 on July 20, 2006, 10:18:56 AM

Of course what Adam and Tractor suggest is also a great idea.......I just supect that a lot of "new generation" internet sat qualifiers dont fequent live games alot/if at all.....eg Mr. Moneymaker!!!

....having a chat with fellow brits pre flight and on the plane might lead to a few % swops?

Title: Re: WSOP - Buy a Share
Post by: AdamM on July 20, 2006, 11:47:04 AM
what I was politely hinting towards is that without a reputation as a decent live MTT player a person might not be such a good investment. I'm not saying an internet only player has no chance, just that you only hear about the few that do well. you dont hear about the thousands that bomb out of WSOP / WPT / EPT events because they freeze live. i'm not saying that'd happen to The Patriot, I'm just saying is makes it less of a sound investment for strangers.

Hi M3boy, thanks for the post. I was aware that I would receive bad posts from people saying this & that and questioning my ability, to be honest, I have rarely played live poker, only in bellagio last year in the WPT satellite. I know I have the game to take me deep into the main event and I am pretty confident. With regards to saying I can't take myself to Las Vegas, well this is partly correct, I am in the US at present however 2 months ago, a serious situation occured while I was living in Boston with my now ex-girlfriend and in turn the vast majority of my finances was taken unknown to me. I have provided proof to the relevant authorities but sadly no progress has been made as of yet, hence why I have to remain in the US as if I was to return home, It would be difficult to contact certain people. I'm aware I shouldnt be saying this on a poker forum although I admire your honesty and felt I should I respond honestly too. To be honest, I know now it was a bad move to post on this forum, but you live and learn, and in one post someone says you post a 90 runner stt and some heads up matches, I said previously I dont play on pokerstars often, very rare, Ladbrokes is my main play and I have profited greatly there over the years, I simply posted those results as its part of the results I had in my mail and just so people knew I wasn't dodgy, not be knocked by someone when I already asked only interested responses only. I say no more about the shares if someone wants to stake, I will gladly accept, if not, I hope none of you end up in my current situation one day.

Good luck, Marty.

Alright then kev you didn't answer, i thought it would be fun but you didn't so I'm gonna to answer your question as requested.

Ive never really thought about what anyone thinks of me on the internet, Ive just never taken it that seriously and i find it bemusing that some people not only take the exchanging of ideas on the internet as seriously as they do in real life but they live their entire life on a computer, i wont go into what i think about that as I'm going to keep this response as cordial as possible.

so for any of those people that take the interaction in which we are engaging over the net that seriously I'll respond because if you had a pop at my character in real life( i was going to suggest that i wold ardently defend myself but on reflection i don't think you would have a go in real life).

but if anyone knows me they'd be surprised to see you having a pop at me unchallenged and although i don't put much into it as its all on the internet, some do.

Firstly the idea of my having ulterior motives for posting is laughable.

You don't know me but if you did you'd find out I'm not really the type of person to waste 10 days of my life(time logged in) playing silly games or whatever it is you're implying.

I play online poker for a living and i get bored whilst doing so, i alleviate this boredom predominantly by coming on blonde, to read about poker and other things of topical interest, and i post now and then when Ive got an opinion on something.

Ive been online for about 9 months now and aside from playing poker, downloading music, and coming on blonde, i don't do anything else online, i don't know how to, i don't want to know how to,I'm too busy in my own life and maybe to lazy to learn but i really dont want to.

secondly have you read any of my posts?

I imagine you have, yet you accuse me of having ulteroir motives!! that really is funny.

I'm one of the few People that just puts my opinion down unedited for all to read.

I dont imply or intimate when referring to someone indirectly because thats just impudent and i'm not a rude, irreverent person.

I might say something about you that you dont like but i'll say it in  an honest and up front way.

The way in which the format of a forum allows little snyde comments is really appalling.

The insinuation that you've disparaged me with doesn't even have any credible applicability, because irrespective of what any thinks of me here you cant deny that i'm one of the most veracious posters that blonde has, there is no surreptitious intent with me.

I'm sure you wont reply as the format of a forum allows peple to have a go and then slip off somewhere, doesnt happen in the pub, theres nowhere to go after you have a go at someone but thats why these things get said online and not in real life.

I don't normally like to get involved in these things, but I feel I have to stick up for Bolt for here.  I presume Kev's comment about posting with an ulterior motive was meant as a joke.  If not, I have to say I've never seen any evidence of that in Bolt's posts, although I accept I've not seen them all.

It makes me really uncomfortable to see threads going this way, especially when moderators are being the main antagonists.

That's my say over, please don't shoot me.

I'm sure you wont reply as the format of a forum allows peple to have a go and then slip off somewhere, doesnt happen in the pub, theres nowhere to go after you have a go at someone but thats why these things get said online and not in real life.

 :goodpost: ;iagree;
