Title: Bankroll building and ironing out swings Post by: Swordpoker on July 20, 2006, 05:51:14 AM I've played in a couple of satellites tonight for the Sunday million tourney on pokerstars - and an idea has occured to me. Perhaps I should play these regularly even if I don't intend to play in the big tourneys.
Normally I play NLH 18 seater sng's. I'm just trying to create a bankroll at the moment so I'm playing in stakes that are well above sensible bankroll requirements. It's a risk I'm prepared to take but I'm always on the lookout for ways to 'soften' the potential swings. The 18 seater sngs satellites ovbiously have a very flat payout stucture compared to the standard ones and I'm wondering if these might be a better idea for me as I'm a bit less likely to go broke. Any thoughts? Has anyone got other ideas to limit swings? (I'm expecting advice telling me to play 9 seaters instead but 18ers really suit my style of play - and there is half the rake compared the the prize money). If i come across one i will post a link.

Title: Re: Bankroll building and ironing out swings Post by: NoflopsHomer on July 20, 2006, 04:05:47 PM I find the $25 Turbo 9 man SNG's from about 12am to 8am are a great place. Don't play them during the day because then they get TOUGH.
Title: Re: Bankroll building and ironing out swings Post by: Swordpoker on July 22, 2006, 01:41:29 AM OK, so the idea was good in principle but the statellites take soooo long to fill - if they do fill up at all. So I've ditched the idea. I still fancy playing in the Sunday $1m though coz the pokerstars incentive is good ($100 deposit bonus for $200 reload). I've got a Birthday lunch to go to on Sunday on the other side of the world (Blairgowrie) so it depends if I get home in time.

Seems a good idea. I've got plenty of FPP points at the moment (just hit Platinum for the first time yesterday - I currently have no life outside of my little poker world) so I'll use them to qualify, if I can. |
